whats the deal with the 63 chevy leafs???

I have a 6 inch lift on my 87 ranger and i want to get away from the blocks in the rear. i was wondering is about the 63 or was it 64 inch leaf spring that chevys have. i have heard about it on the forms and now im coming down to do something like that to the rear end. is it just a get them and bolt them on?? or custom? how much lift will they bring? and that a measurment from eyelet to eyelet on the leaf spring or what? whats the benfit of them??
