Hey guys. So I decided to go with 4.88 gears and now I need some opinions on what locker to run in my axles. I want something that I can manually lock. I've been looking at a bunch on the net, and of course every manufacturer claims they have the best locker out there. Anyone have any info to offer on whats better, mechanical, air, or electric engagement. Also keep in mind that this is my daily driver so I want it to be livable on the street, and not too noisy!!

Thanks!!!

With any selectable locker the road manners will be the same as an open diff. meaning the same as it is now with no noise.

Other than that, it's up to you. Do you need onboard air? If so an air locker might be what you want since you will have to have a compressor. Leaks are the major drawback of course and the plumbing.
Mechanical would be my choice cuz of less things to go wrong.
I have messed with the Toyota e-lockers and they are nice but super expensive if anything goes wrong with them.

Like you, my offroader is also my daily driver. I currently have an ARB air locker in the rear. I figured I would try it, and so far have not been disappointed.
The up front cost is steep as I spent around 1100 for the locker and the high output compressor. mounting the compressor and wiring it were too easy. The harness they provide is almost all match the color to the proper color and running the wires was easy also.
The sir locker was a little work to get in there. You needed to pay attention to the instructions and actually read, comprehend and apply them step by step. My friend does regearing/lockers for a living but the install can be done at home with patience and taking your time.
Running the air line was easy also. I followed the existing brake line up to the compressor, and some zip ties made it tight. It's protected up by the frame also.

As far asselectable lockers go, I have had no problems with it at all and would recommend the ARB. The inboard air has been invaluable. I can fill 8 tires to 35PSI with the compressor before the duty cycle kicks in. Add an external air tank and you almost can't beat it.

ARB lockers seem to have the best track record as of late as far as selectables go. Ox probably isn't too far behind, though fitting one up front is quite the PITA (have to modify the beam and possibly the locker's cover too). Electric-activated ones haven't fared so well however.
