other then loosing storage capacity in the bed of the truck?

Thats the main problem with me. I also dont like the look of the step side as much as the conventional cargo box.

i dont like the fact that they dont dent...but rather shatter.

Way back when (the 1950's) they were more easily fabricated than the later "fleet sides"

Functionally, fleetsides made them obsolete.
Their ONLY purpose of exsistance now is as a "Fashion statement"

If anyone really cares about "style" on a tool (I consider my truck a tool)
then they can be a runner up in an "I'm Vapid" contest that actually gets
won by some dizzy bitch like Paris Hilton.

I've gotta go pick up a load of coal, anyone wanna help shovel?

I would like to help you, but my chrome plated shovel is at the shop being refinished.:icon_thumby::icon_rofl:

A pickup costs more to buy drive and register and if I pay to drag a bed around I want it to be as useful for my money that I can get.I had a F150 regular cab short bed my fathers truck when he passed away. Also I had a 3500 extra cab Chevy 6.5 dually.Despite the sentimental value of the ford I sold it because I was paying to run a hole truck and could only get half the work out of it.

I like em. They look cool. They're great if u don't work outta them. My ex gf had a stepside ranger and it did fine for what she needed it for. Although it did seem particularly light in the rear end

I wouldn't mind a step side, I kind of like them I think they can look sharp. My only issue is that I love my topper and I think they look really stupid on a step side. But come on the Lightning is technically a step side and I think that's a dead sexy truck

ive always liked step sides more then the conventional regular size boxes. To me, it makes the truck look meaner.

Well, it's mostly a look. Some people like the step better than none and some people like the strait inner bed for shoveling.

A friend of mine has an 05 Silverado with the stepside and it's a pretty nice looking truck.

Me personally, I don't like the fact that it's hard to find caps, and I don't like the look all that much either. Unless it's a standard cab with the stepside. They also make for a much lighter truck and probably better gas mileage.

I like the look of my step side. Since my truck is my only mode of transportation, I decided that I would prefer the look over the utility when I bought it as I would not be using it for utility that often. That's why I added the trailer hitch. My trailer will haul anything I could ever need so when I do need it for utility I have a backup plan.

I like my stepside but sometimes wish it had more room. I utilize the hell out of the steps as im stapping down equipment stacked higher than my roof. Would need to strap almost as high if I had a fleetside too however.

I sit on the fence with the step sides. I wouldn't put on on the ranger, but if the s-10 ever needs a bed, I'll probably go look for a step side. But then, the s-10 doesn't see much real work, and the ss beds seem to be in higher supply in the dark blue that ours is than the fleet-sides are.
