First off, I have a Salvage Title. Truck was totaled in a roll-over years ago.

The title is for a 2000

The vehicle chassis and drive train is a 2000

The cab has a white door jamb sticker saying it is a 2002

The dash vin number matches title (2000)

Am wondering about front clip parts id

oops, a picture

I would think the dash VIN and title would "officially" make the truck a 2000 year model. I know on the older trucks VIN position 10 denoted model year, but I don't have any info on one that new.

Doors are easily swapped, which is a shortcoming of the compliance sticker on the door (and I don't know if that exact location for it was changed in the later models).

[edit] And welcome to the forum.

the white 2002 sticker is on the jamb of the cab, Not on door. So cab was replaced. Also the box was replaced.

Was state inspected after rebuild according to carfax, so it is a legal 2000 vehicle with replaced sheetmetal.

Really wondering about the hood, grille, headlights years.

Welcome to TRS :)

Yes, legal status would match VIN under windshield
Drivers door sticker matches Door, lol

What engine do you have?
4.0l OHV would be 2000, 4.0l SOHC would be 2002
2.5l SOHC would be 2000, 2.3l DOHC would be 2002
3.0l Vulcan can be in either years but would have a 4-speed automatic in 2000 and 5-speed in 2002

2000 Ranger looks like your front grill: https://www.newcartestdrive.com/wp-content/uploads/2000/03/00fordranger.jpg

2002 Ranger front grill looks like this: https://crdms.images.consumerreport...cars/chrome-historical/white/USB20FOT144D0101

or this: https://www.motortrend.com/uploads/sites/5/2002/11/163_0206_pl-2002_ford_ranger_xlt_4x2-flareside_front_side_view.jpg?fit=around|875:492

The Marker lights under the heads lights are gone in 2002

You can also pull out the computer in engine bay, look at its label, YL5F-12A650 = 2000, 2L5F-12A650 = 2002

4.0l OHV would be 2000 and VIN is 2000 right?

So drive train is 2000

Front clip is 2000 not 2002, visually

2000 title, frame and powertrain, I'd say it us a 2000.

Front clip is the same for either (with variances for trim level)

ok, thanks.

I did know its a legal 2000, but was just the sheet metal that I wasn't sure of. Thanks to all.

This came up as I looked at the headlights starting to get white. Now I know what to order.

The lights, grille and bumper on your truck were used on 1998-2000 models.
The "Flat" aluminum hood that you have was used for all Rangers from 98-2000, and on all 2wd trucks with coil springs from 2001-2003.
The fender flares are appropriate for 4wd trucks from 98-00 too. They would've changed to smooth, more aggressive body colored flares in 2001.

I don't see anything there that would be incorrect for a 98-00 4WD truck.

Welcome aboard. Do you know why it has a salvage title? If it was wrecked bad enough to be totaled, it looks to have been repaired well.
