1991 Ranger 4.0 engine. Almost done replacing power steering steering box, steering pump and both lines. What type of power steering fluid to use? The original car manual says type F ATF. The ford shop manual says premium power steering fluid e6az-19582-aa (eswm2c33-f) or equivalent.

My 1975 Ford Ranchero originally used type F ATF. I now use lates Mercon V with no issues.

What do you put in the transmission? I bought 2 of the Dexron-VI / Mercon LV and it was $10.00 a Quart, not counting tax

I just use power steering fluid... which I've heard is basically type F ATF...
