Currently running Royal Purple 10W30, yes it does cost more $8 to $9 a quart. I want to say I have a Pennzoil or Fram filter - can't remember. But I will be doing a change soon, before the 10 yr trip . . .

Does anyone have any experience using Valvoline full synthetic? I hear it's pretty good...

motorcraft 5w20 blend with a fl400s everytime. anything more is like throwing your money out of the window.
I forgot to mention, I use valvoline high mileage because all my vehicles except the mustang are over 100k. (84k for the 2000 stang) And motorcraft filter. I tried the highperformance oil filter once, then I read where the high performance filter has "more filter media" which slows the flow of oil. While the extra media maybe a plus for the air filter I don't like the lack of oil flow. So I stick with stock.
During my oil change I run a gallon of either diesel or kerosene through the motor anyways. Dump in the diesel turn it on for no more then 11 seconds and shut it off. give it two minutes to drain and the thinner diesel pulls more shavings out the drain hole.

I use one bottle of STP oil treatment, a dose of Slick 50, some marvel "mystery oil",
