What type of oil do you use?

mobile one is cheaper than a new motor..... could you get lucky on reman wolf oil or some other such garbage on sale 5-20 sure. do you wana stake the life of your engine? idk i dont. 27$ for mobile one seems like cheap insurance towards not having to buy a motor a few k miles outa warrenty. when it all comes down to it, it might work right now but how will it work in the long run. go synthetic and be worry free :headbang:

I run Valvoline conventional 10w-30 in my Ranger with a Motorcraft FL-1A filter, it has made it far enough out of warrentee IMO. It has issues granted, but I doubt any kind of oil would help with fuel intrusion from a whacked out feedback carburator and a very questionable maintenance schedule before I got it. The odometer reads 46k, guestimating I would say it probably has 146k on it, and for what little it is worth the PO said that it got a new motor at 40k.

I run Motorcraft synthetic blend in my F-150 with a FL-820S filter, it too has far outlived its warrentee (it was out when I got it) and still runs like a champ. It had 26k when I got it and has 67k now.

The Ranger goes thru oil so it kinda always has fresh, plus I don't drive it a whole lot anyway. Replacing the valve seals really helped though. I try to go every 4k on my F-150 but sometimes I have been known to go a little over (maybe 5k)

I use one bottle of STP oil treatment, a dose of Slick 50, some marvel "mystery oil", and to chug it down whatever oil I have around, 5w30, 10w30, air compressor oil, some old Kendall 2 non detergent oil, 10w40, 80w90, etc.

Throw it all in. :headbang:

I also like to use a K&N oil filter(adds 15 horsepower) I install it with a IMPACT WRENCH, and if it ever starts leaking(which is really the only time you need to replace a oil filter), I will let my local Jiffy Lube work on it. :)
What, no one thought this was funny...cause i thought it was hilarious:icon_rofl::icon_rofl::icon_rofl: Nice dude rock on:headbang:

i have a 1995 ranger XLT 4 cylinder with 255, 000 miles and i have always used
castrol GTX high mileage 10w 30, been great for over two years now

Sport Trac -- Mobil 1 0w-30 Fuel Economy Formula  with a Mobil 1 filter since I'm going to run it the full 7500 miles this time (and get a UOA).

The wife's Taurus and my Focus work ride -- Motorcraft 5w-20 and Motorcraft filters.

Junior's V6 Mustang -- Pennzoil Platinum and Motorcraft filter.

I use Castrol GTX High Mileage and a Motorcraft FL400S. I usually go 3500-4000 miles before the change because a few quarts have to be added inbetween changes.

i use the motorcraft 5W20 at the dealership here with a good 'ol FL 1 A..

i did use synthetic oil before, but found it usless on a 2.3L engine

mobil 1 5w20 full synthetic at started at 20k, was motorcraft blend before, so 27k so far on mobile 1 and 20k on motocraft, and a mc fl400s for the filter, just change the interval from 5k to 6k,

I'm old (school)--didn't trust the synthetics--let a friend ? talk me into using Amsoil. Tried the 12,000 mile oil first--changed it at 6,000(didn't trust it)--the stuff looked like it only had 1,000 miles on it! F.F. Now using the 24,000 mile amsoil/change filter&add 1 qt. between changes(looks like it has 3000 miles on it when drained). Got 70,000 on my wife's car now--not sayin it's good or bad--costs bout the same as 3000mile oil changes, but only 1 change a year:yahoo:

yeah i don't trust that crap at all....plus its fun to change your oil every 3,000 miles....it gets you away from the girlfriend for a littlewhile:icon_thumby:

I had in whatever carmax used and had pretty loud valve noise(yes it was full). upgraded to valvoline durablend 10w30 and it got waaay quieter. but prolly what autozone gives me a deal on in the future..... just not pennzoil, unless you wanna be one of the people on the side of I-15 out here

I dip out of the used oil barrel at work and just spray my filter out with some brake cleaner occasionally...should be alright don't you think?
