What transmission do I have?

As the title asks. Its in my 88 ranger w/ a 2.3 2WD The ID sticker on the side of trans says "E57A"

I would just look it up by the year, but the previous owner said the transmission came out of a 94 or so ranger so I don't know if its the same type that original came with the truck. I know the speedo gear is different then what was supposed to be in it, because my speedo reads like 20mph faster then you are going.

Im going to be doing some maintenance on it soon and I think im going to change the trans fluid on it. I need to know what kind it takes, ATF or gear oil.

EDIT Nvm, I found it. Looked at pictures online and its definitely a M5od-r1.

on an '88 or later 4cyl ranger it could only be a Mazda

actually the only other manual transmissions used in rangers later than 1987is the Mitsubishi built 5sp trans, which was only made for the 2.9 engine.
