what kind of subs for a single cab?

hey, what kind of subs are you using for a single cab? I'm thinking a 12inch but due to no room behind the seats kinda limits it i guess. and I'm guessing a type r 12 wont fit(first choice). also was thinking about swapping the 60.40 for buckets and running 3 JL 6inches in between them. was wondering if anyone tried this?

i was thinking maybe one of the square subs between(behind)the seats in a custom box....I have mustang buckets...havent tried it yet but plan on it

1 kicker cvt 12" in kicker box(paid $160) standard cab bench seat can take it all the way back and not hit the sub. even when i have it crankin...for now i'll update when i hook up the new amp

Look into the new shallow mount subs Pioneer has one that only mounts like 3" deep the box is pretty much made for small standard cab truck. Alpine has a Type S one not recomend though Rockford has one also all of them run about 200 for the 10.

i tested out my brothers Kicker l7 in my truck (just for the heck of it) and it actually started hurting... so maybe an l5?

RF= junk,
the pioneers are alot for what your getting, but they are small

kickers cvt will fit back there, the eclipse will fit and JL w0 will fit back there to.

who ever said no to apline ....then mentioned RF.....shhhhhhhhh....its ok just shhhhhh

lol 6'' are a cool idea but having three will not help you, you wont get the range that "subs" are know for, and going to a 10'' might help your cause but they will tend to be more puncher

In my old '89 f-150, i ran a shallow 10" Clarion, i forget the name, but i stuffed it with some foam stuff, and it pounded, i listen to metal though, so if you want more bass go for more!

I have a thread that mentions fitting a subwoofer in a standard cab ranger.

You have quite a few choices actually. You can either get an entry level subwoofer with a shallow mounting depth, or get a full blown shallow mount subwoofer.

Kicker, Rockford Fosgate(which is a great brand btw, reguardless of what people in this thread may say), and Pioneer are probably the best offerings.

JL makes a shallow mount sub now I believe, but I'm sure it's not the best bang for buck buy out there.

I think of all the shallow mount subs pre-enclosed rockford fosgate probably makes the best offering. The surround is very thick and it looks like it could put out some good excursion.

The kicker is probably gonna be what I go with though.

Some people say get 2 10inch subs, well it depends on what type of bass you like. 10inch subs generally have tighter bass, but if you go up in size the bass tends to get a lot deeper.

12inch subwoofers are my personal favorite, because they tend to have deep bass while still maintaining the quality of a 10inch sub, so keep that in mind.
