what kind of subs for a single cab?

I have a thread that mentions fitting a subwoofer in a standard cab ranger.

You have quite a few choices actually. You can either get an entry level subwoofer with a shallow mounting depth, or get a full blown shallow mount subwoofer.

Kicker, Rockford Fosgate(which is a great brand btw, reguardless of what people in this thread may say), and Pioneer are probably the best offerings.

JL makes a shallow mount sub now I believe, but I'm sure it's not the best bang for buck buy out there.

I think of all the shallow mount subs pre-enclosed rockford fosgate probably makes the best offering. The surround is very thick and it looks like it could put out some good excursion.

The kicker is probably gonna be what I go with though.

Some people say get 2 10inch subs, well it depends on what type of bass you like. 10inch subs generally have tighter bass, but if you go up in size the bass tends to get a lot deeper.

12inch subwoofers are my personal favorite, because they tend to have deep bass while still maintaining the quality of a 10inch sub, so keep that in mind.

ill give you "to each your own" with RF but you will get flamed on this bored.
and i dont think RF gives the best showing for shollows eather,

best bang for your buck with quality in mind is the cvt,

pioneer and JL make true shallows, 2.5 inches ish,

but there are alot of shallow subs in the 5 inch range,

the sub stuff id right on but you can tune a sub so sound more tighter or more loser, with type style and size of box.

Well I just have had a lot of good experience with RF.

Some of the best highs I've heard was 2 pairs of RF punch $99 dollar speakers, powered by a Pioneer headunit... in a kia.

They sounded about as good as components hooked to an amp, for a lot less money.

As far as RF subwoofers are concerned, I wouldn't buy one unless it was cheaper than other comparable subwoofers.

For instance, even though I like RF, Kicker's shallow mount sub is cheaper, I also love the stitching of the surround to the cone.

That is pro.

I don't understand why people don't like RF. Never heard one sound bad, and I've never seen their products prematurely break.

To each their own though :icon_cheers:
