I found this afternoon someone broke into my truck, took my radio antenna, center console and the stuff inside took the worthless door speakers:icon_confused: there all torn up and don't even work anymore. just pulled the batter connections and the dome and glove box lights.

I am glad the damage is just a window. i guess off to the junk yard and start collecting parts.

Good luck at the junkyard! Hope ya find a good second-hand claymore to mount in in place of the door speakers :annoyed:

Just kidding! (sort of) Have lost a few things out of truck & home over the years myself. No good advice, just commiseration.

That sucks. Seems like people will steal anything anymore. At first I was happy to move out to the country a few years back. I figured that things would be relatively safe out here because almost everyone around here has a gun (or at least it sounds like it sometimes in the summer). I've had more things stolen and damaged here in 8 years than in 8 years living down in the suburbs. Almost enough to make you want to paint camo on your face and go all Rambo on 'em.

No alarm system? Man, evil people need to just die!!!

Can you imagine breaking into a truck to hear the alarm go off? Especially a truck with a gun rack in the window without a gun in it.

Because the first thing everyone that hears a car alarm thinks is "OMG somebody is breaking into a car over there!" :icon_rofl:

My alarm has become my 110# GSD. Far less annoying and gets far more attention.

Locks are just to keep an honest thief honest.

The sad fact of the matter is that decent folks who have respect for O.P.P. always have to adjust their lives to account for the low life's who do stuff like that. I'm sure most of can either remember or have at least heard parents or grandparents speak of times when they didn't lock their house or car. There was no need to. Those days are long gone though.

Bottom line: the further society gets from the Bible, the worse it gets.

Sorry about your truck.

It's just now it seems people are down on money, and they decide to take what's not theirs. An alarm system is a good investment but pretty much now all people think is that it needs to be shut off so it they can go back to sleep. Really, unless it seems close to me, I don't check.

I feel your pain, a few years back I had my stereo stolen and the interior of my truck trashed. I called the cops and when they showed up they took my statement and left. Now this was in the winter and the cops could have followed the footprints back to the house two doors down like I did. So I left it unlocked because it was totally trashed and nothing of value was in it. Well the next morning all of the doors were open and the candy from the center console was gone, they must of had a sweet tooth.

I have found the best security system is to get the biggest pair of work boots you can get from goodwill and the largest dog food dish, Set them both on the front steps and leave a note saying that you went to the local hunting emporium to get more bullets and to be cautious of the dog because he hasn't been fed since he killed and ate the raccoon yesterday

i had a tire knifed christmas eve 2 years ago, alot of people in the trailer park did, the neighbor across from me has 2 cut on one of their vehicles, 1 on another, i thought about filling my tires with propane....so that if it ever got done again, and the one doing it was a smoker.....BOOM!.....it would almost be worth it!, and i doubt it could be proven afterwards what really happend. ive thought about changing out the radio with a old 8-track from a fairmont i used to have....that should be a anti-theft radio! i do have the latch to my shed hooked up to electric, try to get in it when its wet out, it will bite!, heck ive forgotton it a time or two and surprized myself! i remember growing up, the only time the house was locked was if we were away on vacation, and then we only locked the front door, back door was unlocked in case some one needed to use the phone....not these days though....

You know, it's not so bad out here where I am. I suppose it helps that the police station is about a 1/2 mile down the road.

Seriously though, I am in a fairly rural area, about 3 miles out of town, we don't get too many stories about break-ins or robberies around here.

Had a few people stealing dogs a while back, but I think they were from out of the area and got caught.
