What is that?

I'm confused, take a picture of the flange on your differential, the one that the cv shaft came off of

Guys thank you very much for all your input. I finally put everything together with a 1998 driveshaft (extended cab with the 8.8 flange) that fitted perfectly.

I went for a test drive everything seemed fine until I went back home on the highway...2 persons told me that my right rear wheel was wobbling...had my girlfriend dirve the truck will sitting in passenger seat to check my self...yep my wheel is wobbling...There's no vibration, I didn't even feel it in the cab...this is endless hahahaha

I research on the forum could be my wheel flange, I'll have it check

All my nuts are tight, my wheel wasn't bent before the axle swap. It's part of the axle shaft for sure. Is it dangerous to drive a little bit on it?

i would say yes it's dangerous, just because you aren't 100% sure what caused it. typically heavy duty parts (like axle shafts) will be significantly weakened if they are bent, so if it lets go... good bye truck, not to mention where is that wheel going? I drive a tow truck, i've seen more than a couple bad accidents caused by someone hitting a wheel that got thrown from a vehicle, it could take out a windshield and a driver if it bounces right before another car hits it... last one I saw, a brand new import commuter hit a VW golf wheel, and it wrote off the import, and that's your insurance that gets hit for the write off...

simple way to figure out what it is, jack up that wheel and spin it by hand, if it's wobbling, you should be able to see it wobble at low speed, and should be able to figure out what wobbles and what doesn't where those parts meet is what is bent.

IMHO, it's going to be RIGHT at the rim, if it was any further into the axle tube, it would be bouncing up and down, causing a vibration, it is most likely going to be a bent rim, that you didn't notice before doing this work, or the flange it's self, the axle shaft is probably perfectly straight, i'm going to guess the guy who you bought your diff off of probably put the truck sideways into a curb while drifting or hooning in general... was it off of a mustang?

Thanks Wheelz for the info. The axle is coming from an explorer. I switch the wheels and it's definitly the shaft. I'm almost certain it's the wheel flange. Anyway I'm towing it to my friend's junkyard he's got the part and he's going to switch it for me. I was so happy to finally drive my truck, I am so not lucky...

glad you got it figured out!

actually i disagree, you're lucky you found the issue before something failed, and you, or someone else got hurt!
