Wow. I got my 04 Ext Cab 4x4 with the sport buckets and 4.0, plus everything else on a loaded XLT for 12,900. And that was with 23k on it.

I got my 02 for 11,000 with only 29,000 on it :P

I got my 00 for $11,500 with 115 miles on it..... the miles it took to drive from the dealership to the house, lol.

And yes, salesmen hate my dad....

Hahaha, my dad bought an '05 Dodge 2500 Cummins 4x4, the fancy "ooooooh-eee!" package and stuff... had just over 100k km. He bought it in... 07 I believe, and paid $15,xxx CDN for it. Salesmen hate my dad as well. :icon_rofl:

i got my 05 FX4 with a 5 year warranty for about 12,000

NW

i still have the one from ford for mine

The last time my dad went in a dealership to buy a truck, the minute he got started on a salesman the guy in charge of the truck division stuck his head out of his office and told dad to get in there and leave the salesman alone. Dad told him what he was looking for and the guy wrote a number on the back of a business card and slid it over. The number was so low that when dad tried a couple other dealerships, they claimed they couldn't buy the truck from Ford for that price, lol.

I wish I had the window stickers for more of my trucks. It'd be fun to have the one for my choptop... started out as a 2wd.... oh to finish that build and put it in a truck show with the original sticker in the window.... lol

I only have the one for my Ranger. Dad has the one for his Ranger and mom's Explorer an I think he might have the ones for his dump trucks and 79 F-150....(the F-150 has 62,000 original miles....lol)

We got my 87 for about $8K with 10K on the clock. Has 188,5XX now. Then again, we bought it back in November, 88.

my stepdad had all the paperwork for his 2000 F-150 , he searched to get that thing , it had 400 miles on it when he got it , the exact amount it took to bring it from the dealership in Ohio to the one in Buffalo , but it was exactly what he wanted.

the 2008 F-250 he has , it was a repo , we drove to Allentown PA to get it , was optioned exactly how he wanted it , had 9,000 on the clock , and he paid less than half the originnal sticker price.

I dont have any paperwork such as the windowstickers for any of my trucks , but i can tell you i have collectively owned 7 rangers and an explorer for less than what lil_Blue paid for his one truck , granted all except one had over 100k miles , and the one that didnt have over 100k was a total job that i parted out , but still.

lol, my Ranger was the most expensive truck I've ever bought. Next one down is my 95 F-150 ($1,500), then my 88 BII ($340), the 89 BII Eddie Bauer that I fixed and sold ($250 purchase), my 86 BII ($240), my 89 Ranger ($200), and my 89 choptop ($160)

F-150 supposedly had 69k on it, 88 had about 100k, 89 EB had somewhere around 200-250k (and ran like a champ), 86 had unknown mileage (gauge cluster missing), 89 Ranger is somewhere around 120k, and the choptop had 94k

Not quite my dad, but a good friend of mine. :D

Back in '92, he was in the market for a new truck. He need something that was 4wd, had four doors, and was easy to work on. So he did his homework and walked in to the local Ford dealer and started taking to the sales personel on the car side of things who said "You can't get an Exploer that way. Here let me show you what I've got in stick!"

So, he went over to the commercial truck side of the dealer becuase he KNEW this would be a custom order. Even worse, he had a set price he would pay, $250 over invoice. Eventually, he got what he wanted: a 2.3, 4x4 5-spd, 4-door Explorer XL in medium blue and with alloy wheels!

Funny you mention this. Not ripping on your dad at all, but I have heard this same thing from a bunch of people who all thought they got an awesome deal.

I think it's just another trick - car salesmen don't hate anybody who's buying a car from them. And they certainly will not sell you a car if they're not going to make money on it. Something just doesn't add up. Might just be my extreme distrust for all car dealers.

Yea, they do pull all sorts of tricks... back when I was looking for my Ranger they tried to pull the "$99 over factory invoice" trick. When I pressed the issue they produced an "invoice" for the truck.... which according to my research was about $1,800 higher than it should have been.... and I know that they don't pay invoice price either unless it sits on their lot a really long time.

Yea, we're experienced with the tricks. We did a lot of searching before we agreed to the Explorer, and of course when the papers were going to be signed they tried to tack on all sorts of different fees to try to make up some of the difference. I'm sure they made money on the sale, just not as much as they would have preferred. But dad bought several trucks from the same dealer, I think they were just tired of fighting with him every time he wanted another truck, lol.

I get A Plan pricing. Still cant afford a new truck though. The Ranger has been in my family since it was new. Grandpa sold it to my dad, dad gave it to me years later when I turned 16.
