Some guy on another forum is willing to trade me his 1977 Dodge Ramcharger for my 1995 Ford Ranger.

I used to have one a long time ago and I loved the thing! I would take it up to the mountains every weekend with the family and wheel. I could always pick up another Ranger and maybe even a 4x4 one this time.

This has got to be one of the cleanest Ramchargers I've ever seen.

Heres a link to the picture gallery of it:http://picasaweb.google.com/egrist/77RamCharger

What do you guys think? Thanks.

No top? that would suck in the rain.
But as long as you have another vehicle it looks like a pretty fun truck.
If thats a real roll bar go for it. If not... go for it and put a real one on. haha

That looks like a 318 with throttle body. Not that powerful. shady

I had a 1980 Ramcharger...loved that truck...

Only negative thing I would say is OINK OINK OINK at the gas pumps...but if you can afford to fill the tank then I would go for it too...

my dad has a 78 ramcharger sitting in our driveway and i asked him about it and he said he would let me have it for nothing. just the diff's need a little work thats about it....
but i don't know if i should take it and keep the b2's as a daily driver or just make one of the b2's an offroading truck and keep the other one a daily driver

id say if its the 318 go for it, that was 1 reliable engine, if not, and it runs like a top go for it, those old ram chargers are nice builders

That thing would be HELL on gas. But if you can afford it, go for it.

Reliable? Got a guy at work with a later Dodge 4x4 PU with the 318 and he is over 315,000 miles on it so far and the body looks it. He just keeps driving it and using it like a truck is supposed to be used as.

It definitely looks clean, but it IS 31 years old (which still isn't old enough to avoid CA smog hassles).
IMO, I wouldn't do it unless you like wrenching on stuff all the time (and feeding it $3.50+ for every 10-12 miles you drive it).

It also still appears to have the problematic front wheel hubs that lack lockouts as well.

I would do it, but I wouldn't trade a 2wd Ranger for one. I am just guessing he is tired of feeding it and wants something better on gas.

Ok, thanks guys.

One of my main concerns was fuel too....hahaha

I used to have one and I loved it to death. It would go anywhere I pointed it at! It had 33's as well but the 400BB instead of the little 318.

I guess I'll hang onto my Ranger for a while because it is good on gas and I love it too. I just need/want to do some suspension stuff to it but I'm not really sure if it will work. Thanks again.

i've had 4 318 engines, including 77 powerwagon 4x4.all 2 barrel motors and i recall them being pretty good on gas,not overly powerfull but no all day patsy either.

never match the gas economy of your 2.3 ranger, but it was mopars economy v8 after the 273.still think you should consider it.have you driven it?
