I've found a few 8.8s locally. What have you guys paid for them who have done the swap? And in what condition?
(At a junkyard)

I literally just got home from pulling one from the yard, $125 and in pretty good condition

'03 FX4,LvL II, 31 spline, LSD, 4.10s... $170.

wtf. I can't even find a level II axle.

But the ones I have found that are locking are in the 300 range which seems high for something thats rusty as hell.
Keep in mind my 99 has no rust and I do live in FL...

expo. disc brakes. 3.27's. open. (was gonna go 4.56 and aussie, so it's perfect).
$65.

got another one for $80 that was 3.73 lsd. sold it tho.

Okay So I'm looking for an 8.8 ranger axle with 4.10s and LSD if I can get it.
So I should be expecting to pay around $60-200..?

I paid about 2800 for mine.... I also got a whole exploder for free with it though. Around here I have seen them go for about 150 to 400.

it just depends on what places you have around you... if you have a pull a part or u pull it type lot, they put a standard price on all rear axles-complete.. if you have fancier junkyards where they pull it for you, 4.10 geared anything will cost more than 3.27 geared stuff usually.

you might want to travel some to get the deal you need, just remember to allow for the price of gas.

here, Expo 8.8's are cheaper/easier to find than ranger 8.8's (and stronger, but not bolt in for you).
check Craigslist.

got my '93 Explorer 8.8 for free
recently picked up spare 31 spline shafts and all disc brake hardware at the pull and pay for about $60

$4 because JY made a mistake.

4.10 and discs.

They are usually $140. Got both front and rear for $144. lucky me!

Dismantlers 2000 in Fort Worth sells axles all day long for $50 :D Got mine with disk from them. Pick a pos wanted $200, I laughed at them as I walked out the door.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

I can get them for $90 on Wednesdays ($180 the rest of the week) with disc brakes. Or drum brake rear ends are $54.50 on Wednesday ($109 the rest of the week).

...... oh, and to answer the question - Wednesday's are 50% off.

$50 for a drum explorer with 327's and $150 for a disc explorer with 373's and a LSD. both were already pulled, just had to pick them up. that's about as good a price as i could find around here. junkyard wanted $250-$300 for one, they would have pulled it though
