What did you pay for your 8.8?

thanks for the good info.
I'm looking for an axle thats already pulled because I want to do this swap fast and not be a huge project. But I also don't want an axle that looks like its been sitting there for 12 years lol

$150 for a explorer that needed rebuild but had disk brakes

$100 for the LSD 3.73 disc, $350 for flip work, $500 for brakes seals and fluids, u-joints, and hardware.

$60-80 a pop depending on who's working the counter.

Theirs a yard here that is charging like 350 for an 04 8.8 4.10 locking. I called them and asked about the price and they said "your looking for the racing axle right?" lolol They wouldn't move on the price.

$100 w/ springs that I had to pull in a guys really junky garage in the 'hood in Omaha.

3.73's, LS and disc brakes. Took my brother and I an hour to wrangle it out of there which was none too quick... I had to keep checking the '150 to make sure the hubcaps and radio hadn't wondered off.

I had to completly rebuilt the brakes and put new seals and clutches in it while it was out and it works great. I got the hardware from Ruffstuff which was very good pricewise (especially with our discount) and had a guy at work do the welding during break (also welded around the tubes) :icon_thumby:

I got my swap kit from ruff stuff it was very good quality and a good price

$200 4.10 open with discs and leafs on CL but pick'n'pull wants like $160 for a rearend round Portland,or

28 spline while it was increased in the Explorer to a 31-spline axle shaft. Its axle uses C-clips to keep the shafts in position.

???

Not really sure how that contributes to the conversation.

That dude has been putting weird remarks all over. It's a spammer.

Actually, looking more closely at the structure of his posts I have decided that he is either a VERY VERY advanced bot or, and far more likely, not a native speaker of English. I can see tells in a few of his posts, the word order is consistent with proper syntax from other languages, although exactly what he speaks every day I am not sure. I would guess it is not Spanish or French.

I've found a few 8.8s locally. What have you guys paid for them who have done the swap? And in what condition?
(At a junkyard)

How is this working out ?

I posted about the FX4, LVL II axle, just to note... I found a complete 03 FX4 that was being stripped and sold by someone that had no idea what they had and I didn't tell them.
I got the rear axle, first thing, then the t/c and shift linkage. The shifter, knobs, boots and bezel were just laying there so I picked then up and started to take the interior apart once I was told to take what ever I wanted.
I pulled the Tow Hooks, the radio bezel, the gauge cluster, etc, etc...

Ended up paying $400 for everything and I got a lot of stuff that just isn't available.

Well, enough about the LVL II, did you get your axle and what is it.
Did you consider the Explorer Axles; I looked at them and then the LVL II came up for grabs.

I will have an '03', 8.8, 4.10s, open diff coming up for sale but since I am n MA it isn't the best thing for you.

Luck on either the install, IF you have an axle or the search if you don't.
