What did YOU do today?

My son didn't check the oil on the Miata he got three days ago and now the engine is knocking. He traded his wrangler for it
Ouch!

Debating on doing more than just servicing the axle to my ranger.... Prob just going to watch anime and cook dinner later.

Got the seat as clean as I could get it for the F150, couldn’t get driver’s side headrest out to put the seat cover on but this is still a big improvement over the original seat. swapped out the headliner & visors too. Put some amazon step boards on, not exactly what I wanted but much cheaper, what I wanted was the old-school traditional diamond plate running boards that would of matched the tool box but they are $300-ish. these were 170 and I applied for a amazon card just to get 30 off. they work. Next I need a grille guard.

Spent yesterday and today helping my buddy tear out my driveway and fix it, we're about halfway there. As per usual with everything in this house we've found that it was done incorrectly... the failed paved driveway was 3/4 to 1 inch thick, with about an inch of the wrong base over sand. Now it's 4 plus inches of stone which should be better.

First run of my boat for the year, went fine, few tweaks to make over the next few weeks before the first real boat trip... for one the coolant temp gauge isn't working, I thought it worked last year, I'll look into it... next is it was a couple quart's low on coolant for some reason, will see if it maintains since I topped it off. Other than that I think it sounded like a misfire near idle so I'll pull a few plugs to check the mixture and then otherwise just go over all the hose clamps and stuff.

Other than that I got most of the rest of the nails and stuff out of my burn pile, it's roughly 6" of the bottom of a 55 gallon drum, more than I thought but it is most of a camper frame and like 30 pallets and a picnic table...

Still been chipping away at the workshop project when I can between weather and other things. I made a serious error by trying to save money and use stuff I had because I’m spending a stupid amount of time notching steel to fit the round tube to reinforce the frame. Should have just bought a square tube bending die and a bunch of square tube, then all of my cuts would have been square.

Anyway, today I apparently have been voluntold to finish the sunporch for my parents so instead of spending a nice day working on the shop I’ll be in a house hanging drywall.

This was yesterday.

We were camping at the lake and I was cooking scrambled eggs for breakfast. I hear a plane fly over, it was a piston engine plane but didn't sound "normal" So I look up and can see the thing is silver and is like really moving, it clearly ain't no Cessna.

So I pull up flightaware (I am a bit of a airplane nut) to see what the heck it is.

It took me a bit to figure out what the heck a P-51 was doing in Clarinda... sure enough it was for the Glen Miller Festival. And they actually supposedly had another one there too. This one wasn't in the flier but is from the same town so I wonder if "Sweet Revenge" had an issue and they subbed "Twilight Tear" instead.

It has a rather colorful... history

Anyway that was pretty cool to see even if it was from a distance.
