What did YOU do today?

today, more work. :(

ha ha ha, its really not bad being at work, when we have work. after work we are going to pick up a canoe for 100 bucks and who knows what else is planned.

With the weather being all wonky and various meetings going on, not much has been done.

I did finish treating a shovel handle with boiled linseed oil and sharpening the blade for easier digging.

I also started treating the handles with boiled linseed oil after removing the varnish from the wood. Not only does boiled linseed oil protect the handles better, it is easier on the hands to grip and work with compared to varnish. Manifacturers use varnish because it's a one dip and done process compared to week long application process of coat, let it dry, and repeat.

Got started on my F150 brake system replacement, new master is on & started the lines. Been awhile since Ive flared brake line, thought about putting a line-lock in the cab for the fronts as a parking brake but thats just more potential for later issues. I am deleting the original rear abs & putting a manual proportioning valve on, it will be under the hood. The old master cyl was definitely toast. First one Ive ever replaced. Was supposed to come with the stuff to bench bleed it but it wasn’t in the box so I made lines just for that.

Catch up time:

Prepped the mower for the season. Still gotta put a tube in one rear tire. It stays up for several hours though so not too worried about it. I had the tube last year and never put it in.

Got the expansion tank plumbed in and the new sink/cabinet in the bathroom.

Changed the fuel filter on the Ranger.

When changing that I scratched my arm pretty good before I ever got the fuel lines off. Once I did the blood washed away with "gas". It didn't burn. Went the next day filled up with pure gas from the Coop. Power is back, no more missing. YAY!

Fixed a pinhole in a water line at Mom's. I'd already told here the 40 year old polybutylene plumbing wasn't gonna hold up to the pressure of the city water. (It's 75-80lb at my house a mile away.)

Cut down a dozen or so arm sized trees at my Aunt's.
