What did YOU do today?

What's going on here? Innards of a wall I see..
All junctions (joints, splices, whatever you want to call them) must be in a junction box and accessible and made in a safe, acceptable manner with good workmanship. As he stated, that mess is a fire waiting to happen.

i finished up putting a backup camera in our 09 Escape. Our lease ended on Ann's Tacoma Turd - or TRD...whatever. She liked the backup cam, so I put one in her new ride. Kinda did it the right way, pulling all the trim and running the cables and wiring along the door sills and up thru the tailgate. I tapped into the backup light circuit so it comes on in in reverse --- I guess that;s why they call it a backup camera.
Normally I would've just taped it to floor.

The one and only RedGreen -- "duck" tape master. I remember one episode where he made gull wing doors using duck tape-- hilarious.

Yeah, most notably someone’s hack of an illegal electrical junction. I appreciate they took the time to nail one of the wires to the stud. The Electrical Fire 5000 right there. No wonder there’s feedback on the neutral leg even with the breaker off. I’m sure there’s more of these gems hiding out just waiting to be found, either by me or by starting a fire. It’s my buddy’s place, I don’t have the ability right now to do an entire gut and re-wire and he doesn’t have the budget, so like how you eat an elephant, this project is going to be one bite at a time. As long as nothing decides to get sparky before we get to it, we should be good. But the idiots that did this wiring should be drawn and quartered and I’d like to say some mean words to them right now…

Wow, bad news.

That’s going to take 2 quarts of Rustoleum…

No self-control, I dragged this home today from a space I leased. Old tenant didn’t want it amazingly:

13.5 x 3’ internally lit channel cut “title lending” sign. There are a million title lending lots down here, and this kind of sign is about $11 or $12,000 and takes three months to get right now. I have to remove the American panel (trademark) but I’m posting it on craigslist. What do you guys think I should ask? I thinking $2500.

It also acts a good screen, so, if any neighbors are worried about my casket, the sign conceals it so the casket is not an eyesore.

Update: 25 years ago, I did a bunch of free work for the Georgia independent automobile dealers Association (the used car folks) on environmental issues when the underground storage tanks had to be upgraded. There were a bunch of them working out of old gas stations. The guy who runs it and I cross paths about every five years or so. So I emailed him and asked him to send it to all his members, and like most things, the first guy who shows up with some green cabbage is going to get it.

But then I had an afterthought, which is why I’m writing this update. I bet you I could trade this thing on a car or truck in a heartbeat. Those guys pick things up at the auctions for nothing.

So what kind of a car or truck should I suggest? I was thinking Peterbilt. No, scratch that. I have two Rangers, a Ranger without an engine, and a couple half ranger beds. I think I’m pretty well stocked up on them.

I’d recommend one of these. Sometimes you need to have an extra vehicle with you.

Repaired the mesh fabric on the back of my office chair. It had developed a run up the fabric and was no longer providing proper support. Time will tell if the repair will hold up. It was an inexpensive to begin with. So not a huge loss if it doesn't. But a little time and some thread is worth the effort if it works. I already had the thread in my sewing kit. Being in the military, learning some basic stitching is pretty much a requirement. It's kind of hard to find someone else to do it professionally when you are out in the field.

Cleaned out my dodge since insurance wants to total it. Subaru fell on it and crushed the passenger side B pillar. Was pretty bummed since it still runs pretty good, but don’t have the time to put a new cab on it. Also don’t want to deal with the salvage title.

Went down the street and talked to my neighbor and his friend. They were in the middle of putting a new engine in his Chevy. Convinced them to buy it and put a cab on it.

Wasn’t hard once I told them what it was. 8.0 v10, 4wd with 1 ton axels with 80k miles on it.

Last Christmas, or maybe for her birthday in March, I gave my niece a jigsaw puzzle. It's completely white and has a piece missing. Bought it that way. It took her and my brother about 3 months to assemble. Now, it's my turn.

Always proud and supportive of those who serve, but a question. Why did you bring your office chair out into the field?

Went to First Baptist Atlanta for the Christmas worship service. Inspired and inspiring. Charles Stanley has retired, but new pastor Anthony George is just as fabulous.

Baby is celebrating for Christmas too now that I cleaned her up.

Not quite as fancy and festive, but we like it

Bren did some christmas cookies & candy & I started on the wrapping. Not done yet but still have some time to finish. Back to work tomorrow, the three day weekend sure goes fast.

Uniform repair is done in the field, not office chair repair. But the skill is transferable.
