What did YOU do today?

Thank you.

Baby isn’t so sure. She was getting a little scruffy sitting in the weather, and when I took the casket out of the truck, and put it on the Road Ranger, she scooted over to the corner. I think she thought the casket was for her. So I’m going to cut her free and let her play in the hot tub (a/k/a washing machine).

I put some small PVC down as I pulled it out of the truck, so I could roll it onto the Road Ranger. My gut feeling is this thing weighs about 250 pounds, maybe a little more. 2/3 of the way to my limit just picking up one end. I think it weighs more than the 88 Ranger bed.

And, don’t worry, don’t report me, after her wash, I intend to spend more time with Baby.

The trailer frame will be out of that 4 inch aluminum channel, and I’ll probably polish it up a little bit instead of painting it. So, informal poll: Should I paint it to match the road Ranger? Should I paint it red, white and blue stars and stripes? Should I paint it black and regal red like the Missing Linc? The Road Ranger Raith will find use across multiple vehicles, maybe including one of the Lincolns. Feel free to consult the rust oleum paint chart for all the options.

I haven’t had it 24 hours, and my neighbor already asked if he could rent it for his Halloween party next year. I didn’t even think of that.

So what colors & why?

Future posts will be in the Road Ranger semi link.

Thanks for letting me play in the hot tub daddy!

It’s a little deeper and darker than I thought it would be.

Are you going to close the lid Daddy?

DADDY?

(they have to learn young that life is hard.)

I shortened the support rod for the tablet mount by 3 inches. Being just an aluminum tube with a couple holes drilled near the end for screws to secure flexible portion of the mount, I used a water pipe cutter to reduce the length 1 inch at a time until the head was pretty much where I wanted it to sit. Visually, it doesn't look markedly different that the previous picture.

Once I figure out a bracing solution, I won't take a picture. I'm thinking a couple Adel Clamps with a piece of tubing cut to the appropriate length and the ends flattened so a hole for a bolt or machine screw can be used to secure everything together. That should reduce the majority of the bounce in the mechanism.

I usually go with Carrie, but Adel has done some good stuff to.

On napa- back in the day it seemed like their electrical automotive stuff was poor quality (starters/alternators mostly) so napa seemed to stand for what youd say to the counter guy when you returned- “ N eed A nother P art, A sshole!”
but nowadays they seem likea good choice for quality parts, but they are the most expensive and seem to have limited hours.
Today was just another day at work, 3.5x5.25 sand cores. 9 pallets of 547 each, headed for mexico. Probably my least favorite core to run, come out 20 at a time.

Well, I’ve heard of telling Mexico to go pound sand, but I never realized it was so uniform and organized!

Seriously, what are they used for? You can’t just send them a sand pail from the beach with instructions?

They are used by foundries for metal casting. I dont know all the details, Id love to see the process.

No self-control, I dragged this home today from a space I leased. Old tenant didn’t want it amazingly:

13.5 x 3’ internally lit channel cut “title lending” sign. There are a million title lending lots down here, and this kind of sign is about $11 or $12,000 and takes three months to get right now. I have to remove the American panel (trademark) but I’m posting it on craigslist. What do you guys think I should ask? I thinking $2500.

It also acts a good screen, so, if any neighbors are worried about my casket, the sign conceals it so the casket is not an eyesore.

I pulled the Chinese made Napa Duraspark distributor out of my 351 and replaced the 2 weak cap retaining clips with some real Ford pieces off a 60 something 390 distributor. Now the cap doesn't wobble around when I touch it.
I also started my Kioti tractor and warmed it up, it hasn't had any excercise lately and I plow snow with it.

I got to unwrap a Christmas surprise yesterday at my buddy’s place…

Last night the coils for the Snapper mowers showed up so I put those on, one ran just fine until the carb plugged up, the other ran pretty good but both have leaking float needles so gotta get back into both carbs... but both have spark compared to neither before yesterday! After that I kept working on cleaning the shop some, put up some beer signs I've had for years, the top of my tool box has been a catch all since I put it in the shop, trying to get that pared down and less unsightly...

Not much today. Put the last quart of oil in the truck that it needed and started getting episode two of my ABSOLUTELY RIVETING Ranger revival youtube series put together. Originally planned on getting the trans&rear end dumped and refilled while I was over there.. but being a one man film studio makes everything take infinitely longer than it would otherwise lol. It's supposed to be both rainy AND windy monday though.. so I'll be skipping work to finish that up.

What's going on here? Innards of a wall I see..
Yeah, most notably someone’s hack of an illegal electrical junction. I appreciate they took the time to nail one of the wires to the stud. The Electrical Fire 5000 right there. No wonder there’s feedback on the neutral leg even with the breaker off. I’m sure there’s more of these gems hiding out just waiting to be found, either by me or by starting a fire. It’s my buddy’s place, I don’t have the ability right now to do an entire gut and re-wire and he doesn’t have the budget, so like how you eat an elephant, this project is going to be one bite at a time. As long as nothing decides to get sparky before we get to it, we should be good. But the idiots that did this wiring should be drawn and quartered and I’d like to say some mean words to them right now…
