What did YOU do today?

Usual work day for me, came home to my new @LASFIT light bar, wiring harness came on monday. Probably wont put it all on the escape until the weekend sometime. It looks good though. 12”, the one I had on the ranger was 6”. Going to mount it in the middle of the bull bar, will be awesome to have the extra light on the early morning drive to work every day.

Making some progress on the stupid fence project... last night I got all the old posts pulled out and about 75% of the hog wire. I still have two small pieces that are embedded in trees. You can see the mess I'm dealing with... too close to my junk pile and trees growing up through it.

Should be able to start digging post holes tonight or tomorrow night. Here's my drive through gate with the two awful posts pictured.

Yesterday I stripped out a nice "roller" equipment cabinet at my local metal scrap yard. Took about 5 hours to get 95% of everything removed. But now I have some good bones to work with. Decent casters as it rolls around like a dream. No china junk detected...so far. Was a piece of medical gear, now a chassis for a wet 24" lapidary saw with storage doors. Next step is start in with a sawzall and finish removing the steel inner structure leaving room for a 18" deep liquid tight sump for the mechanical feed & drive assembly. Lucky for me there is a rigging company called Murphy Industrial Products, Inc. Anything & everything you need to tie down stuff on your barge, and / or other mode of hauling. Depending on my feed motor rotation, I may require a left handed lead screw & clamshell nut. Easy to find in hard galvanized metal as part of a turnbuckle assembly. I have a 5 foot tall (1 inch) turnbuckle I purchased from them to level my transmission tower. The cost was not bad at all.

Today still sore, as the rolling cart weighs 170lbs stripped. It rolls so good, (how good does it roll?) ....any undetectable tilt or slant on any surface it heads to the low spot when you least expect it. When I'm ready to start work on it, I'll screw down the included jack screws holding it in place.

170 pounds? I think they call that a “safe.”

I mentioned a while ago I needed a belt for the cassette in the Missing Linc. I contacted the guy up north and with shipping, it would be over $20, and I’d have to open it up to figure out what length. Not that I don’t have the money, but the radio Isn’t worth $20 (the whole truck probably isn’t worth $20). I didn’t say yes or no, I just paused.

I don’t really want an aftermarket radio in it. And I have three or four of the same size radios, same size vintage, a couple of them cassettes in the shed of miracles from the Town Cars.

Well, after taking my sleeping pill last night, I was just stumbling around on the Internet, and I found 150 Cassette drive belts in 35 or 40 different sizes for a whopping $7 delivered. I have them coming.

On a different note, one and a half of the speakers work. I have a pile of new speakers in the shed of miracles, and also a 100 amp amplifier, all that I’ll probably never use. So now I’m thinking, do I go the distance, and screw the hundred amp amplifier on the inside of the roof and run a couple more speakers inside, and maybe a couple waterproof outside with a cut off switch.

And in closing, all therapy. I’ve been surviving just fine with the one and a half speakers I’ve got now, I just would like to be able to play a CD or cassette because I hate commercials

Got there around 2 and they were turning people away. Told me that since the line was already so long they wouldn’t be able to get to me before they closed at 5.

So I went to the beer store instead. Then went and drywalled a storage room in the in-laws house for them.

Put the new DB Killer in the motorcycle and did some riding. I may have over-revved the engine. Guess a dirtbike with lights doesn't like to hit 80mph. It's get super hot smelling now.

Yesterday I straightened the mangled section of one of the pieces of roofing on the boat shed wishing my pliers were about an inch deeper... the metal now ends at the end of the 2x4 instead of 1/2" in now so it's better for the 1" of rain we're supposed to get this weekend... I need to make two pieces of roofing about 6" long to add in for the two pieces that are 2" short... I also went up on the roof and put in some of the #12 screws to plug some holes from one of the tin's previous life's , only one hole was too big for that, haven't climbed up with the next size screw that I found to plug it, close enough for right now...

Tonight I mowed the leaves then put up the last piece of roof trim to guide the rain over the side of the roof better instead of saturating the sheeting like it's been doing...

I voted yesterday, walked right in which surprised me. It was busy, but it was big enough to handle everybody.

They were also handing out mail in ballots. I think there’s about a week to return them in Georgia.

Good job voting. I goofed and forgot to change my registration along with my address change on my license so I can’t vote this election (different counties - TX). Kind of relieved to be honest!

Put in new upper and lower radiator hoses, new overflow tube and reservoirs, cleaned the heater hose T fitting, replaced the thermostat and housing, new air filter, and replaced the T connector for the windshield wiper fluid. Tried to fix the shift indicator but the dial is broken. Now leaking from the new overflow tube, but maybe a hose clamp will remedy that. Oh I also ate dinner. That’s about it, chilling with my cat now.
