What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

The PITA got new shoes...

15x8 Jeep "Gamblers" wearing some generic 31x10.50 MT's

2" spacers from Titan Wheel Products all the way around to make up for the totally different backspacing.
This may be the first time I have gone DOWN a tire size! 👀
The 265/75/16's that were on it (and now are for sale) measure out to 32x11!

Oh wise ones….

The Missing Linc, 1987 2.9

My clutch pedal seems to be fading a little bit. When I checked the reservoir, the fluid is kind of dark. I’m pretty sure it has a new slave cylinder because I put a new clutch in when I put in the rebuilt engine, very low miles since then, so I’m assuming it’s the clutch master cylinder. I hear they’re a pain in the neck to bleed, so a couple questions.

Is there any way to know whether it’s the clutch master or the clutch slave? I’m going to start with the clutch master simply because it’s obviously easier to get to.

And again, everything says they’re a pain in the butt to bleed and they have that reservoir that’s the size of a small shot glass. While I’m pulling it out anyway, would it make sense to put in a bigger reservoir from the scrapyard or the shed of miracles so it doesn’t run dry while I’m bleeding it?

Also, any bleeding advice on how to do it so it actually works would be appreciated. No rush, it won’t be here for a week. The local ones are apparently made of gold or Sterling silver. I just need an Aluminum one.

Thanks in advance
I bench bled my clutch master by stretching it out up a ladder. You can orientate the master at an angle so the air doesn't get trapped.

I'd still take that over filling the F150, filled that up thursday, 97 bucks
Hell I filled the Ranger the other day and it was $74 (VA for reference)

I was doing a tune-up and then i pulled on the rear driver-side plastic boot clamp thingy with extendo plyers and the plastic boot holder thinger came off, uh oh.
then the wire pulled out of the boot.
then i try pulling on my boot with my extendo-plyers and it just starts tearing chunks out of the boot.

any suggestions before I continue?
also how much spark plug grease should i be putting on both ends of the wire? a thin film or globs?

I'm guessing you tore a plug boot, that isn't good but it happens, would replace... It's easiest to pull the upper intake manifold to change the drivers side plug wire, it's possible without but I'm pretty sure takes the same amount of time...

as for how much dielectric grease on the plugs/boots, not much, just a smear, it should help the boots from baking onto the spark plugs in the future.

Don't pull on spark plug boots first, turn them back and forth to break them loose from the plugs then pull from the boot. You could pull the motor from a set of plug wires that haven't been touched for a decade or 2.

I know exactly what he is doing and that is not an option unless you pull the upper intake manifold... my '97 is the same intake and I didn't even try for the back two on the drivers side without pulling it...

well i youtubed the problem and was advised to spray wd40 and twist. and it was much easier to access from under the truck

the next issue is that the rubber grommet thingy inside my spark plug socket went missing and now i cant get the fkn #4 spark plug into the dang hole.
any diy solutions for that grommet?

im worried i may have shoved #3 wire boot onto the #3 spark plug with the rubber grommet piece still sitting on the head of the spark plug, but i take it that the wire boot wouldnt fit snug on there if the rubber boot was still on there, aye?

also this rubber piece appeared under my car, any idea where it may have came from? i suppose i could try and make a spark plug grommet thingy out of it, lol.
grommet is definitely the wrong word.

*EDIT*
rubber grommet is on the head of spark plug 3 and and the spark plug boot is shoved snug and firm between head of spark plug and the surrounding wall
🤪
sun has been shining hard over engine bay making intense light/shadow contrast, but its somewhat setting and now i can actually see what ive been working on

i made sure to blow out as much debris from the spark plug wells as i could but i know for sure some debris got pushed into the spark plug holes during the two attempts to insert the spark plug without the proper rubber spark plug "grommet" 😢
