What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

finally time for the engine swap. 2005 2.3 with 367,500 miles (all mine) and less than 80 psi in cylinder #1.
It's my spare vehicle so I'll be taking my time. plus I'm 69 and lazy.
FYI, the fan nut is 36mm.
in addition to the mechanical fan this Ranger also has an electric fan. it seems big enough but I don't know the CFM rating.

Bill, I have had good experience with the Centric pads and also with Power Stop pads. I generally buy one of those brands now, always the ceramic ones because I cannot stand all the dust from the metallic pads.

That's probably what I'm going to go with. I've never had a problem with them, and all but one product of their products I've used was made here. Their cheapest line (C-tek) appears to be made in China. The semi-metallic pads are really good, but with dust all over the wheels and tires.

I know someone who has over 500,000 miles on a 2.3. Compression was 130-143 in all cylinders.

I am going to take these cb mounts off and than put this cool guy cup holder in the red rocket today. Actually, right now. Seller even had the bolts. That is why I picked this cup holder over the others, no hassle of finding those bolts

Ok. The seat wasn't threaded for those but you just push and turn and cut your own threads. Way better than the other cup holders, or way larger, at least

Changed oil in the ‘07, went from Mobil 1to Pennzoil Platinum. Scraped some on the mating surfaces of the spare M5OD. I’d ordered a FSM CD to help reassemble it, but it was sent in a flexible mailer and arrived cracked. Put in an ebay return ticket.

Didn’t get to working on the Ranger, was tinkering with the chainsaws until it started raining after a rough morning. Wanted to get the carb information to order some rebuild kits to have on hand and ended up getting more involved, lol. Think they are going to end up with a little extra. Want to get a full chisel chain for the big Craftsman and tune it a little. It’s a beast as it is, despite being made by Poulan, but I think it could be a little better. The little Stihl I want to get tuned up and go to a side adjuster for the chain. Also need to figure out why sawdust is getting past the air filter.

Tentativily fixed my hard cold start issue. Noticed earlier this week when it doesn't want to start it doesn't act like the choke is set. Last time I jumped out, manually moved the throttle lever on the carb and it fired right off. So I did the right thing and threw another ziptie on the throttle cable at the pedal.

Cold started beautiful like it normally does. Rumbled it into town and kind of took part in a RBV takeover...

Both good synthetic oils, but out of curiosity, why'd you switch to Pennzoil Platinum?

Recommendation by a former member plus reading about oil testing on Bob is the Oil Guy. :)

I'm a member of BITOG too, same member ID as I use here. In fact, that site uses the same forum software as this site.

(one year ago) today I went in the woods with the gang.

I gotta stay home and finish up the swap. Spring fever is taking hold and its hard to wrench after work.

Man, I miss subarus sometimes. I lifted all the ones I had and took them places they weren't intended to go. Now they sell off-roady ones right from the factory.

Not gonna lie, one of those truck looking ones with long travel would be kinda cool.

Last time I went to the offroad park I saw an older forester on one ton axles and 40" tires crawling over a bunch of boulders. Still kicking myself over not getting a GOD DAMN PICTURE
