What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Probably totalled the '90, unloaded it camping and when I pulled the 4 wheeler out of the bed a tailgate cable snapped, then I looked at the passenger wiper and it had a dangler... :) just kidding, $30 on Amazon for a pair of cables and will get new wipers one of these days...

Other than that the Ranger did good wheeling, didn't get driven too much though but it was a trooper, still kicking myself for not making a traction bar sooner, such a game changer... on the way home the weather was dumb, it was windy as heck at camp loading up, below freezing camping in sand... some people checked the weather over the mountain passes, normal one was "tire chains required", the next closest was just wet pavement and 26 degrees so we went that way, then around Portland there was a freak snow storm above about 300' altitude... apparently like 4000 houses out of power and such... mine was fine, I'm further south...

I’ve been running Linux OpenSuse for years. I tried Unbuntu. I couldn’t figure it out and went back to OpenSuse.

As far as what I did to my Ranger. I finally got around to painting the silver roof rack bars to match the black ones for the cab. Just waiting for the paint to cure now. All this rain and chilly temps aren’t real friendly to that process.

Finally replaced the cat-back exhaust system. Looks like the old one was the original. Of course I could just about see through the muffler.

i forget what ubuntu i tried first, way back in the day. dancing dingo or something weird like that, i suppose. i still have the disk, i just have to go find it.

I used to keep a portable distro on a thumb drive. Might have been puppy Linux or something like that. Every once in a while I would boot up a computer at work with that.

(one year ago) today I went in the woods with the gang.

I gotta stay home and finish up the swap. Spring fever is taking hold and its hard to wrench after work.

I did nothing to my Ranger today. I do need to decide on what brand of brake pads to buy. I installed semi-metallic pads three years ago and although I think the brake pads are top quality, the dust from them is driving me nuts. Time for ceramic pads. The pads on there now are Centric. I'm wondering if their ceramic pads are as good as their semi-metallic. I'm probably overthinking this. Does anyone know of any other US made pads that aren't overpriced?

I ordered a new electric fan kit for her and set up a meeting to get a shifter lever along with a ecm and the wiring harness from a guy parting out a 95 explorer.

I would love to see your review of this fan system if you wouldn't mind...

No problem! I will put it to the test this summer. I abuse the heck out of my trucks so if it has a weak link I will find it.

"Hey guys, the fan didn't stand up to my abuse. What's the best head gasket for my truck?"

Your prediction is probably pretty accurate as far as it not standing up to my abuse. But the head gasket is not new to me lol. It might be more along the lines of “Hey guys where’s the best place to buy new heads”? Lol

Are you serious?

No he’s just harassing me.

Bill, I have had good experience with the Centric pads and also with Power Stop pads. I generally buy one of those brands now, always the ceramic ones because I cannot stand all the dust from the metallic pads.
