What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Got the caprice home, 6200ish lbs with the trailer. Truck did great.

That was dangerous. Glad you're ok.

I have the tow package so it was well within the legal limits of the truck, trailer had brakes too so stopping was no issue.

Turns out an old high school pal works for uhaul. Super convenient.

I like the angle of the picture, makes the caprice look even bigger. Life is an adventure.

I had one for the practice wife, an ‘84, ivory cream with the wood paneling, a gorgeous car, and perfect for the two rug rats & when other kids came along to Six Flags and such. Great memories.

I remember it had an am/fm/Cb in the dash, OEM. Wish I could find one that fits in the lincolns. What a hoot.

what’re your plans for it?

Good job! That's the biggest Honda Civic I've ever seen

LOL. Reminds me of a few years ago renting the U-Haul tow dolly to transport my stricken 91 T-Bird behind my '95 Ranger 4.0 4x4. Of course you tell U-Haul you're just pulling a Honda Civic!

Technically a 4,000lb Thunderbird was within the tow limit of the truck, but 20 miles was all my sphincter could manage.

Yet another custom radius arm build. Rock Jock 9114-28 2-1/2" Johnny Joint, 1-1/4" RH tubing adapter, and 13" of 2" .250 wall DOM steel tubing.

Used some scrap light 1" square and 2x3" box tubing for a jig that put the joint where I wanted it on the frame. Built the jig on the truck from the frame mount back to the radius arm - axle beam mount, triangulated with the lower shock mount. The stock radius arm stud end required a lot of heating and beating to pull it down and out to the new angle to line up along the frame, while keeping proper caster angle.

First will be pulling its 305/700r4 combo and leaving it on the lawn in true white trash fashion... trashion.. if you will.

Then replacing that garbage with a 4.8 liter LS motor, topped with a carb, fed by twin turbos, spinning a 1000hp rated trans brake th400, ford 9" rear, and big sticky tires.

Ultimate goal is really just to get the car to pull its front wheels off the ground. Well see what happens.

You could put 10 sand bags in the back and still pull the wheels off the ground with no mods: I forgot how long those were behind the rear wheels. I had a much smaller Vista Cruiser wagon I would love to have back for a mild restorod. Keep up the good work!

If you get < 300 cubic inches to lift the front end of that behemoth off the ground and not destroy the drivetrain in the process, you have my respect. You also have a LOT less money than when you started.

@Blmpkn

Olds called their version the Custom Cruiser. What part of that don’t you understand?

Changed the oil in the '97, also changed the oil in the Camry and drained/filled the trans to flush it some. Now I'm back to the F350, I have the oil cooler off, oil drained and obviously coolant drained... We'll see if I can get the cooler back on tonight... Also went to Harbor Freight and picked up their version of the vacuum fill setup for cooling systems, we'll see how that works, in theory it should work good on this thing, I know the Snap On version works good on GM stuff, but I ain't got that kinda money, and it's not convenient on a Sunday afternoon... I didn't convince myself I needed one til a few hours ago...

Even if the weight is fine, it's hanging probably four feet off the back of the trailer, with the back bumper about head height if a small car hit the trailer from behind. People in the front seat of the car that hit it would be DEAD.

Wow, I didn’t pick up on the danger to those behind!!! Maybe the picture isn’t fish-eyed, and the rear of the caprice really is twice as tall as the whole ranger, twice as big and massive, and three times as long!
Not only would that bumper be a danger, head high off the ground on the 4’ diameter rear tire, if Braer Rabbit and Alice came though running late to the tea party, they could knock their teeth out.

Wait a minute, no, I had one of those, that back tire can’t be 4’ high. I think it’s just the camera lens/angle the makes it look so big and so high.

I’m glad I caught that. I know I’m a lot less quick to jump to wrong/negative conclusions than I was before my doc put me on sertraline after my accident with all the stress. Does anyone know if you can get sertraline or Prozac in Canada? Is the mellowing CBD oil available? I’m asking for a friend

That back bumper is at least three feet off the ground, as the car sits on the trailer. Granted, I'm guessing, but consider that even a car the size of a Taurus is less than five feet tall, that bumper is for sure at the driver's chest, maybe even head.
