What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

YEAAY I found a person able to give me a ride back and forth to do all the front end motor work that is needed.

This is the year to get the steering box, lines, water pump, timing chain and gears gaskets and all, its time to get it all done in a bout 3 days block forward new. Timing cover wont be new but every thing else will be.

G/F's are really nice when they realize how handy you can be.... she likes my ranger... 😛

Attached slave cylinder to trans, removed master cylinder and reservoir. And ordered adapter and line.

I have a charging system again! It was nice when I got off work and Ive been feeling better with 4 days of medication since my copd diagnosis so I got the ranger out and started looking around under the hood, a few days ago I searched (here) for charging system diagnostics and screen-shotted a page for quick reference later, rather then pull in to the garage I worked outside, the lighting is much better. I found the grey wire that has the fuseable link, lo and behold it wasnt even hooked on to the solenoid, Guess that happens when you dont have enough light to work by. I have so much stuff hooked to the solenoid as a power feed I didn’t notice the grey wire got left off. Was great to just put a wire on, hit the key and see the alternator was charging again.

That's why the first question in any diagnostic should be...

Did it work properly before you fooled with it?

Glad it was actually that easy... now stop fooling with it!

well I had replaced the starter, cable to the starter and the solenoid. I had forgotten to pull a battery cable when I was underneath and the hot wire to the starter arc’d to the exhaust manifold, so I thought maybe I had fried something. By the time I knew I had a issue with it not charging I was cold, tired , coughing and irritated. Sometimes its good to step back for a day or two.

I stopped to eat something, and I put on a recording of “Bitchin rides.” Dave Kindig said a pickle/cucumber is actually a fruit, not a vegetable. How do you guys feel about that?

If it tastes like garbage it's a vegetable. Cucumbers taste like garbage, so hence they are a vegetable. Pickles taste good so they are fruit.

Enjoying the nice weather with it, now that the roads are starting to be less weird I might need to throw some water at it...

^ That truck looks awesome, BlackBII!

These are just strainers, no moving parts. Not much could go wrong if you just secure them tightly.
Yeah, you'd think that. You'd also think their gaskets/seals supplied with an oil cooler would be fine too. Until you find out they disintegrate in thr presence of oil.

Taking a poll. Please chime in.

I got the 87 all primed, and I got the first slop coat of red and black on it. This will be sanded and get more coats. I’m still figuring out where I’m going to do the exact transitions between red and black, and there will be some pin stripes/side molding, other jewelry/eye candy. I put a lot of thought in it (thought is free, especially at my HP). I saw the red cap, B pillar and back of the cab in images of full size trucks, and thought it would look good on this Ranger, but it’s not jumping out at me now. So I thought I’d take a poll.

If you like it as is, give me a blue “like” 👍

If you hate it and think it should be all black, give me a red angry face 😡

And if you think the top and the bed-light panel only should be red, the truck bed side black, give me a wow face. 😲

& it will probably have one of those aluminum caps, black or satin black, on it most of the time.

Please put an appropriate amount of time and consideration in this before voting. Rustoleum is creeping up on $9 a can, and it would take a third of a can for each color change. Polls close 2:00AM Saturday pacific time.

& of course I’m open to alternate suggestions. Thanks in advance!

& remember it started as the image in my signature....

EDIT FOR CLARITY: We’re only reviewing the red on the back & top of the cab.

We're gonna have to set up a Gofundme page for your destitute Rangers ;)

@85_Ranger4x4, I gave you a like (sincerely, thanks for the brochure), but 😤😤😤, laughing 🤣 at this important research was not an option!!!
