What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Come on now @Rick W
We KNOW you're a yokel, but we still love ya. Besides, if we're calling you a yokel with all of the engineering that you've put into your builds, what does that make us?

Yokelites…

Yokelites…
I thought yokelites were the young boys in church who light the candles at the beginning of the service and snuff them out at the end.

Drove from corpus to san marcos and back because my mom wanted to have lunch with everyone.

398 miles from fill up at the station by my house to the one about 4 miles away and the truck said i still had 55 miles to go. 24.4 mpg.

This 2024 2.3 powered ranger does awesome for mileage and comfort.

I thought those were satellites?

No, silly. Saddle lights look like this.

Midshaft bearing replaced and driveshaft installed.

😊

Vibration at about 45 mph. Right

😢

Only thing I can think of is, I didn’t put the U joint saddles together with everything square. Project for another day…

Got state safety inspection today. It passed, but the inspector mentioned there was a tiny amount of up-and-down play in the front wheels, not enough to be a problem and definitely not related to suspension/steering. When I got home, I tightened the spindle nuts a tiny bit to eliminate the play. Solved it.

That reminds me. I need to do a bearing cleaning, inspection, and re-greasing on the trailer.

Damn, you guys must think I’m some kind of yokel….

You don't look like this, so I don't think you're a yokel.

A couple of weeks ago I installed camber eccentric bolts on my ‘07 2wd. I set the camber and set the toe in close, then had it aligned at a frame shop.

While I was working on it I noticed the 3 year old remanned steering rack was leaking. I got in a new Motorcraft rack and pinion. Yesterday I pulled the old one, the fluid was black and nasty looking. I doubt it was fully remanufactured.

Today I flushed the low pressure line and installed the new rack and high pressure line. Then I set the toe in with the laser.

I’ve got new 9” Ford ovals coming, “FORD” on a red background. Can’t wait to see how they look.

put it back into daily driver service at least for a few weeks. And now I play a game of "where did the coolant go?"

gonna guess that it is a heater hose or the vacuum controlled heater valve that I replaced last year.
