What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I thought about mine. Havnt seen it in a couple weeks.. but im sure it's still clapped out lol.

Drove my ranger to whiskeytown lake again, and took in some sunshine. Starting Wednesday is gonna be that pineapple express for at least 4-5 solid days of rain. Wanted to get out for a bit today. Went for a short walk into nature to see how I can remember my true self.
Beautiful pictures.

Now that chassis and drivetrain is complete minus driveshafts, I’ve started in on the cab excising cancerous rust. Got seats and heat shields out/off yesterday evening; waiting on floor pans to show up. In the 4th pic you can see old boy replaced the driver side with panel epoxy and spray foam but i’m going to tear it out and redo it. Not the best welder but I plan to do a shit load of tack welding rather that panel epoxy. Any opinions?

Make sure there's no gaps underneath that can trap water. Water's surface tension will hold it in a crevice even when it's facing down. That's why my '71 Buick Skylark has so much rust in the body seams underneath. I don't live in the rust belt. I'm to far south for that. My family has owned it since it was new and it's never left the south east.

Removed the bumper so I could finish welding it and add the recovery points. I like it. Now I just have to get @Rick W to slap some Rustoleum on it.

Bring it on by! I just bought 2 quarts yesterday.

In case you can’t make it this way, mix the first coat 50-50 with mineral spirits. It’ll run into all the nooks and crannies and gaps, and even the teeny pits in the welds if there is such a thing. Then a double coat about 10 hours apart. When you bolt it up, run some of the 50-50 mix all over the connection points. It will wick into the gaps.

come by and thank me in 10 years, when it still looks new!

Dang @ericbphoto

Those are some pretty serious recovery points.

Your welds look pretty good too.

I'm getting better. But there's plenty of slop on this project, too. I had issues for a little while after putting a new spool of wire in the machine today.

Thanks. I'm glad to have it (maybe) finished for a while.

I wish my welds looked like that. Mine are more like a mini version of the Rocky Mountains with lakes and streams below.

The person that owned my flatdeck trailer before me was copying random bird poop...
I have a few of those inside the bumper in places that were hard to reach. Probably could have done those areas better with stick, if I had one.
