What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

Went and got 400+# of water softener salt, wont have to buy any for awhile and will have a bit more bed weight for winter.

Might be using the ranger to haul this geriatric mover home tomorrow. Seller wants to trade it for my savage and a snowmobile. Runs&drives, says it's solid.. well see! I'd gladly captain this thing around to save some miles on the truck.

Those old boats with the 4.6L got like 22mpg and were pretty peppy, took me like 15 minutes to find the oil filter on the one my grandma had though...

Thursday night grabbed some firewood from the shed with the '97 to restock the front porch, much easier than 3 or so trips with the garden wagon...

This one should have the infamous wheezebag 5.0 that made 140 hp lol. Mabey I'll get lucky and someone put a 350 in it at some point but.. probably not lol.

Can my F250 play? Massive heavy load of wet pine. No idea what it weighed but i dont think i hit 8mpg into a 50mph headwind doin 70mph for 3 hrs home.

Took four loads of Ian yard debris to the recycling center/dump before hauling a new washer and dryer home.

Tomorrow it's doing charity work bringing a used transmission for a Chevy Silverado at the U-Pull it.

Getting ready to go see a guy about a caddy 😎

I really hope it's in good enough shape to want to load up and bring home.

It was absolutely nice enough to bring home ☺ the carb needs some attention.. gotta stay giving it gas to keep it running but when it's running its suuuper smooth.

The motor isn't absolutely covered in sludge either like the usual SBC.. wicked happy with my acquisition.

Beautiful!

Thank you! It lost a couple chunks of the vinyl top on the ride home lol.. but a brand new top can be aquired in just about any color for around 300$.

The top is probably the worst looking part of the car honestly. I'm sure I'll find something once I take the time to really look over it good.. but I havnt seen a scratch or a dent yet.. seems like this paint will shine up extremely well.

Finished the semi-annual preventative maintenance on the 2011. The end link bushings on the front anti sway bar are completely trashed. I guess I'm going to have to buckle up and pay for the OEM ones. Aftermarket models are not working out well at all. This is the second set and brand that has had failed bushings. Sure, they have a lifetime warranty, but what good is it if you have to change them every year or less?

It's all that high speed cornering you do on twisty mountain roads.

Well we tried to leave the gf's house in the trailblazer but blew a gas line off. Yes just popped off.

Back story, the trail blazer blew a metal fuel line to the engine a few weeks back so we sent it to the garage around the corner to be fixed. Well a week later fuel was pouring out of the line again so it went back to be fixed. They found that the line they replaced was rubbing on the drive shaft and it wore a hole in the new line so it was replaced. ( to me this sounds bad as I make sure the replacement line can't rub anything but this is me being a bit anal.) So we are now caught up on back story here is what happend. We started her truck and it stalled about 1.5 seconds after starting it. She hit it again and just cranked with no start and i smelled gas. I said hold on and got out. And got down, this is a huge thing for me but I did it anyways, and told her to turn the key on and fuel just poured out on the ground. Well the next afternoon her friend stopped by and looked at it. The plastic line that connects to the metal line had popped completely off so he hooked it back up not knowing he hooked to the old line that they left in so fuel poured all over the engine this time. Well a quick check showed the issue and the line is back on. Time will tell if it stays on or needs one of the clips replaced.

The point being we took the ranger instead and that faithful thing got us to where we were going with no issues. Thank goodness we have two vehicles between us.

Made a little more progress on the roll bar install this AM. Just the final welding left now and NO, it's not getting back braces through the back window since the NHRA rulebook says they are not necessary on a pickup truck.

Are you doing a roll bar or roll cage?

It looks like you can only get away with that if you have at least a 4 point cage with an upper windshield bar and a full funny car cage around the driver.
