What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

I made engine is goes vroom.... it's not idling great (low) but runs smooth as silk otherwise so I'm calling today a win. One problem at a time. I know it's got vacuum leaks all over.

Fuel trim is at +42%.... think I got a vacuum leak? :icon_rofl:

That sucks

Took some pretty good body damage in an automatic wash tunnel.

Was going through the brushes and felt a jolt, like a truck hit me in the rear side

Had some paintless dent repair done. See quoted post for ‘before’ photos.

Repair was done by Scott at Precision Dent Removal in Tallahassee. I’m happy with the results, the damage was over 2.5” deep at the worst point. Cost $700 and was finished in one day. The owner of the shop was excited to see this repair, it was on the larger end of what they do and they tried some new techniques on it. He recorded the whole thing and will be posting the video online.

Looks like it came out real nice.

The original discussion has disappeared. IDK.

We need some positive news. What did you do to your Ranger taday?
I'm working on stripping the frame to the metal to paint it. I've disassembled the truck and I'm gonna start with the frame and go from there. I've got slot of parts ready to go and it finally is drying up some. I'm wanting to end up with a pro street truck when I'm done.

Drove it to work and jammed out to "Danger Zone" on the way home which happened to be on the radio.

Kinda fun 80's moment...

I started cutting up my grille to fit my vision, actually came out pretty good on first try. I’m going to get it right and installed, and then duplicate with the clean grille I have.

Also ordered/received more regal red. Murphy’s law, I need about 4 more tablespoons, and minimum order was 2 quarts. When I was working on the grille, I barely touched the edge of the chrome with a finger tip, and let’s just say the paint wasn’t needed. Ouch!

& I’m laughing, the whole time I was working in the shop I had Sirius radio 50s on, and I was in paradise until the finger thing. Put some electrical tape on it and kept going! Doo wop & 4 part harmony! 👌👌👌

Naaahhh,

Fred Paris & the Five Satins: “In The Still Of The Night”. (actually “Neyeyite”). Very appropriate for this project.

Or maybe Jon Pardi’s “Night Shift:”
“Working on the night shift, baby
Dying for your* touch like crazy”

(*Redhead’s touch, not @Dirtman

Ok, I fixed my stars, have to let the paint dry before tackling the roof light bar.

I cut the hole bigger for a later model bed light with the third brake light. Have to polish the plastic with a little tooth paste.

I’ve been working on the grille and tailgate all week to the wee hours, a little bit at a time. Wasn’t sure if my harebrained scheme was going to work out, and I was saving it for the reveal, since if it made me look like an idiot, I would’ve come up with something else or put it original. But here it is. I’m loving it!!!

I’m going to call it “The Missing Linc.” Here’s my work-in-progress, limited edition, 1987 4WD Lincoln Ranger XLT “All Terrain” Tah dahhh!! This is still a rough cut, but you get the idea.

Note hood corner turn lights like the old MOPAR. I have done it before, I will tie these two signals into the rear brake lights to the trailer hitch, after the fuses. That way I know if I lose the trailer lights.

& LEDs in the rear under the town car reflector bar. All lights front and back will be new.

I also mounted the CB Radio antenna mount and spring too. I’ve got a few vintage single side band radios, that’s after the outside is done, but I’ll run the wires now while I run the lights with the seats out.

I’m also going to sequence the rear LEDs, but no specific plan yet.
