What did you do to your Ranger today? (Part Deux!)

@Rick W

I like that paint. might have to do something similar when I get around to mine.

Wait til you see the lights! I’ve always had an eye for the silly pizzazz, but always get compliments. I’m not that smart, I just surf tons for ideas before I start, but I’m always changing the plans to fit what I have in the shed of miracles, and I cruise Craigslist and the goodwill stores constantly. I think I have 30-40 extra wheels and tires now, but I bet I don’t have $300 in them. When I’m done with a project I sell the balance high and budget the next hair brained scheme.

Before the fire departments trained up and took over hazardous materials emergencies i had and ran an environmental hazardous response biz. All our trucks looked like little fire engines. This one will too. I’m also blending in some things from my trademark Lincolns.

@Rick W I too like the paint detail on the roof... gets me thinking about things I might do if I ever build a Northern Michigan trail rig.

The real elephant in the room is ALL the Ranger stuff you've acquired in the short time you've been affected with Ranger-itis.

You just keep having fun.

I said it before, it’s like eating peanuts!

Any job worth doing is worth doing twice! I still have to do some touch up. And it’ll be mostly covered by the lights anyway!

Finished my snorkel project. It turns out that the MAF for a 97 3.0l has different resistance values than a MAF for a 93 3.0l. it gave me error code 156 "MAF value too low". I had to go to the junk yard and get a new connector plug so I could put the 93 MAF back on. Code is gone.

But..... while at the junk yard, I got a pair of headers from a 2001 Mustang 3.8l, which I can use with adapter plates when I build my "3.0 won't be slow" project. $44 for headers isn't too bad. Morana wants $240 for the adapters. Maybe I can find them cheaper or make patterns and have some cut locally. I'll need to find a cap to cover the egr tube hole.

The adaptors are just flat plates.

Holes for exhaust.
Hole pattern for the 3.0l heads
Separate hole pattern for the 3.8l headers.

Use a set of each gaskets.
Adapters are fastened to heads with flat head screws.
Headers bolt to Adapters.

Pretty simple really.

Free program, on par with Autocad. Scan your gaskets in and away you go, I use it for all my stuff. :icon_thumby:
