What did you do to your 2019 and up Ranger today?

I couldn't get the steering shaft section to clear the differential. So. the whole differential had to come out. On the plus side, I didn't have to remove the inner tie rod ends to get the steering rack out.
The inners were way easier to remove than my diff. I was gonna do that and busted my impact socket trying to get the bolt loose. The tie rods were a peice of cake. Snapped the little ring off. Put Lousil "big adjustable wrench" on it and they came right off. Then the rack swung right out around the diff. I spent a whole day fighting to get that bolt loose 9n the front diff.

The P2796 code about transmission
The Google machine thinks it's serious. Hers what it says.

I don’t think the transmission is acting funny. Very occasionally there is some hesitation, but nothing to write home about. I will say this and it may be related, but I have to let the truck sit for a minute or so before I put it into gear. If I don’t it clunks into gear., forward or reverse.
I’ll ask Grok and see what the AI thinks.

Mine will do that when it's cold as well.

Grok seems to think it is related to the auto start/stop function. I have turned this off in ForScan. Wonder if it related.

Hopefully thats all it is. @bobbywalter said if I could pick my nose and drive i could rebuild the 10r80 hahaha. Ive been practicing. Only ran off the road once today. I wished I had his knowledge and mechanic abilities.

Disregard Grok says it is not related at all. The aux pump primes the transmission with pressure to make the auto start/stop smoother during restarts per Grok.

I was going to do that until I couldn't get the steering input section past the differential. After fiddiing with that for a little while, I just went into removing the differential.

The hardest part for me was removing the the two mounting bolts right next to the pinion flange. I had use my 30 breaker bar on them in order get them broke loose. Reinstallation may or may not be an adventure.
