What did you do to your 2019 and up Ranger today?

Just did an oil change (Valvoline Restore & Protect 5W-30 FS), but here's something that might surprise you guys:

I always do a 5K OCI (Oil Change Interval). For this OCI it was a bit over, 5200 miles but 2500 of it was a trip from Texas to high in the Colorado Rockies. Lots of hills to climb and engine braking on long down-grades, and I'm talking 4-6 mile long downhill grades.

On virtually every oil change other than this one, the computer states the "Oil Life Remaining" is always at 59 or 60%.

On this OCI, it was 17%!

So somehow the ECU determined that the Colorado trip put extra wear on the oil and drastically changed the oil life value.

Thoughts on this?

You think maybe you forgot to reset it? I know the Vagabond trip was a touch under 4k miles. A lot of that was through mountain passes and up and down. With some high speeds across OK and TX. After I got back mine still said it was around 60% when I changed it after the trip

You know, I think you may be right. The math works in your favor. I did change the oil the night before the Colorado trip, so in my haste, it seems that's what happened.

Thanks for the clarification!

I also did mine the day before the trip. Then I was running out to Virginia for Expo East. So I was worried because once on Cinnamon Pass. I got the reduce power over temp warning. Mainly because I was running in 2wd. No problems after switching to 4lo. So I changed it before I ran to Virginia. Only reason I thought of it is because I've forgot reset it several times through it's life.
