what are the big differences between mustang 5.0 and explorer 5.0


That's almost what mine is.

'92 Mustang short block, GT40 heads, 1.7rr, B303...

Ok. Are your pistons the same cut as mine? In 91 or 92 Ford changed from forged to hypereutectic pistons.
 
Stock, they would have been the same. (mine are still stock)
I believe the change was for 1993.

No PTV clearance problems with any that I built. I use forged flat top pistons in my builds.
 
So heres a question. With the pedistal roller rockers do you have to run guideplates? What about the cobra roller rockers?

Are you talking about the steel channels under the rockers to keep them strait? If so, then yes for pedestal mount.
 
Now that's not a guideplate. A guideplate "guides" the pushrods. As I stated, no guideplates with bolt down rockers.
