The 9 inch was introduced in the late 50's and went out of production in about 1984. You'd have to be really lucky to find one cheap enough to build for anywhere near $300. I owned the 8 inch housing I used in my Ranger, the gears, and a Yukon aggresive differential. I spent about $100 for a bearing kit, about $30 for spring pads, and about $500 for custom 5 lug axles. $300 doesn't buy much.I would take a 9 if I could find one for cheap like less 300 because 300 I'll have the 8.8 setup the way I want
