Fix it till its broke!
I know there have been a few posts about this, but I cannot seem to find where the leak is! lol anyways I pulled out my mats today, and i find the passenger side is wet under there. Its dry on all sides including the back wall and under the seat, its wet only literally under the mat! Also nothing was spilled in there so I know that isn't the cause. Tried taking a look into the cowl drain on the driver side and it's clean and clear. Is there anywhere else I should look? AC looks like it drains fine when it is running and
I hadn't noticed it before. I suspect that it is because it rained yesterday...hmm....any ideas where to look? Is there access to the passenger side of the cowl or drains?

leave the mat pulled back. It could be leaking down where the floorpan and the side wall connect.

either:

cowl
heater core
windshield

that's the 3 most obvious..

not heater core, no coolant loss, and it doesn't smell. Plus it happened after we finally got rain here in south texas, it had been a looooooong time!! lol So i suspect cowl. I'll probably seal the third light just to be safe since it will take like 2 minutes, but i did pop off the driver side cowl as per a guide here, but it was clean, I suspect it is clogged possibly on the passenger side but i cannot find an access to it. Also is there any other plugs or things I can check? The front windshield was replaced in february and it hadn't leaked when it rained until now that I can tell. But I'll still probably give it the hose test, but i would still feel better checking the problem areas anyways to at least prevent future leaks. any door drain plugs or ac drains i don't know about? Tricks or guides anybody knows of?

sit inside, get someone to run water in the cowl

yea i'm gonna try that but i need it to dry so I can spot it cause it doesnt look like its a puddle just kinda wet. hmm...again is there access to the passenger side cowl in case thats the issue? i see access to the driver side and smack dab in the middle but nothing on passenger side, just a booster or something.

06rangerxlt your truck reminds me of mine lmao except newer :p

Ok called the place that did my windshield and the owner remembered me lol. He said he "mentioned" a rust spot at the top that might be problematic. I don't remember that at all but I didn't argue because he said he'd help me out and seal it a little better. Hope that fixes it, I'm probably gonna make a little gasket for the third brake light anyways just to be safe. That will eliminate both factors at least.

Hey if he's will to work with you... Go with it. See what happens.

yea I feel bad because he was gonna do my rear window, but he ordered the wrong one and i then just replaced the piece of glass with lexan lol. Then I have been too broke to get it fixed but it works fine, i just can't tint it. I was gonna have someone cut me up a piece that's pre-tinted but that's another story :p

Ok went and they couldn't find any leak in the windshield but they re sealed it anyways. I resealed the third brake light by making a gasket lol. Anyways looks like the leak came back even though there was no rain...damn! Anyways guess I'll have to remove the whole carpet or at least pull it back to find the source. That sucks! Anyways at least I eliminated 2 possible sources. The guys at the windshield place said they tried hosing the cowl and didn't see any change same as me, so has to be the ac even though it is draining outside just fine hmm. Does the ac drain into the same path as the cowl? or completely separate path?

any advice on removing the passenger side fender to possibly see if the leak originates there? Is is a PITA? What about alignment of different components? Am I just asking for a headache or is it a one day deal?

nah no smell, plus no coolant missing at all! lol Plus it only gets damp never a puddle...and only when i have the rubber mat down otherwise it dries long before it can build up. Like i said I am gonna try the hose in different areas and pull back the carpet, remove the kick panale and glove box, etc. Then move onto the door seals, remove the fender etc :(
