My credo
A legend to the old man, a hero to the child...
Currently waiting on the side of M34, 3/4 way to work in my ranger.

About 2 or 3 miles ago i noticed the temp gauge creeping up, oil pressure and fuel were too...figured gauge.

Look down again, oil pressure/fuel back to normal, temp is top of normal and heading up.

Pull over, recovery tank empty, coolant just starting to spew from cap. White snot under the oil cap.

F***** great.

ive got a bad feeling.jpg

I hope that it's not as bad as it seems . . .

I hate when that happens.

in theory it could be condensation. Id only gone 9 miles and it was 5* out....just cause the coolant got got hot dont mean oil did.

But i could be wishful thinking....after it cooled off i drove it 3 mi to gas station and it seemed pretty steamy.

Watch everything closely, could of been gas or a ice plug, freeze plug. Or that beer that someone added~

The gauges, everything is only as good as those sitting in the driver's seat. There is nothing like working on a vehicle in below freezing weather.

Its not getting fooled with untill spring.

Beyond maybe initial diagnosis.

I guess on the plus side...if it is a cracked head it gives me an excuse to pull it and rebuild it, or, find a solid replacement 2.9.

(No, the 4.0 isnt an option....dont even ask :) ).

An engine i can actually take long distance without the lifters getting loud and collapseing to the point i lose power lol.

We'll see what happens. Rusty #1 is still outback and that engine ran strong, but would drop off oil pressure (by the factory gauge anyways) when warm.

Just sucks, my broncos not done, my F250s door hinges are so bad i can barely get the door shut, and it wont open from the inside. Plus its leaking PS fluid pretty decent

My LTD is still torn apart...really wanted to get that going this summer.

The jeep im racking up shittons of miles on, plus i need to get it to the dealer for a few issues before maxcare expires

That 2N i bought is still a friggin headache.

Luckly the wifes fusion is staying togther....but its a 18 with 50k so it should.

Sorry....just needed to vent. You'd think with 7 vehicles laying around i wouldnt be in this position.

Car guy problems i guess.

You beat me to it.

@rusty ol ranger
Sorry to hear about the issues with your Ranger.

Multiple old vehicles needing repairs is why my wife made me get the '17 F150; so, we had at least one vehicle that was reliable...
Thats why i got my jeep lol.

Im just pissed....of course i paid 375 bucks for it 6 years ago and besides the initial problems its been a pretty faithful servant since. So i guess i owe it more then it owes me.

Maybe a stuck thermostat or faulty water pump?

I buy the “lifetime” warranty water pumps at Autozone since it means as long as you own the vehicle. If I even suspect it’s not doing it’s job on even a 4.0 (since they are closely related to the 2.9), or if I’m swapping motors, pump gets warrantied. I’m not playing. Thermostat and water pump are cheap insurance. Also what is the condition of your clutch fan?
