Damn man. You ever read the book "In to the wild"? If not, you should. Have fun, and enjoy it as much as possible. Wish ya luck.

Yeah, I just watched that movie...

Be sure to bring a good amount of food with you.

Good luck.

How are you able to afford to do that? I presume you have no family or job. You just going to rely on your outdoor skills to survive or what? Good luck bro.

Hey, if you're passing through Canada, make sure you try the beaver...maybe you can even talk one into joining you on the trek...:)

I hope you have thought this through and it's not just a knee-jerk reaction to something that happened in your life. With that said, good luck, man! I would love the freedom to be able to do something like that....

hey thanks alot guys. well i just got my cdl and i was looking for work. but i figure hell, im 23, i have no kids or bills. i dump my g/f of a 1.5 years. so i have nothing holding me here. im on unemployment and before i start a career. i want to enjoy myself and the great outdoors. i dont want to chase a pay check and have bills yet. yes i did see the movie "Into The Wild." i have the same views on life as Chris McCandless. he inspired me greatly. thats why im going to the magic bus in alaska first. i wanna pay respect to him.. than im going to hike and raft the redwood forest. always want to see a redwood tree. than im going to oakland Ca. to start my way across america an the discovery trail.:icon_thumby:

So, what route will you take across the US?

I dont mean to be offensive, but it sounds liek a volunteer bum to me. On the other hand you could get some awesome life experiences from it. I'll be praying for you. PM me a name so I can do so if you don't mind. Otherwise I'll have to pray for the backpack guy, LOL.

Keep in mind that most of the folks that live here in Alaska think McCandless was a moron. He basically comitted suicide. Please don't do what he did. That said, the bus is out there and easy to get to. Quite the walk if that is what you have in mind. Pretty country.

Uhm... living off unemployment? good luck, if I pick you up hitchiking in the rain don't mention that.

I think the reason nobody has jobs, is because people like me and my buddy donny "the don" wilson have two jobs. or maybe it's because their worthless.

Have fun, watch out for physcho's and assholes, and don't carry much cash.

Frank

well i have my CDL. i just got it. i've been to a few trucking companies and they cant hirer me cause i have a felony charge and no trucking exp. i know i can get hired by some of the larger trucking companies for over the road two weeks at a time. plus i would have to goto where ever they are located for training. my unemployment is about to run out. and i just dont want to chase a pay check right know. if i get a job now i'll just have to wait a year until i get some time off to do anything. so im young, heathy, have no kids or bill. this is the best time to do it. i want to live life my way, not how everyone else lives theres. do u think i really want to wake up earily daily to do a job i hate. get home drink beer then go muddin, break something, than spend my whole paycheck and weekend fixing my truck. not really. i did it to many times. dont get me wrong, i had alot of fun and i love working. im just bored with all that. think about what u do week after week. dont u just want to escape ur daily life routine. i have my chance now. and im taking it. call it what u want. i dont mine. im enjoying myself. plus i will meet new ppl. bang farmer's daughter. (probably get my ass shot with rock salt if i got caught, lol) i just want to live free of todays daily stress.
