For real? An ash tray pushed him past the breaking point?

Honestly, it was those bumper bolts that were the "straw that broke the camel's back". But having to lift the engine 1" to get the oil pan to clear the steering rack so I could change the oil pan gasket when there was already about 6 or 7 inches between the pan and rack annoyed me quite a bit. As did a few other smaller things. It's a personal pet peeve to have someone do things to make my life or what I'm doing harder when they could just as easily (and no more expensively) done things in a way that didn't make my life or what I'm doing harder. So what job was it exactly that put you over the edge?

We'll see about that. The Windstar never had the same thing break, so fixing it proper wasn't the problem. But everyone says Rangers are awesome reliable trucks and everyone says Windstars are the Ford exceptions so we'll see. Either way, the Ranger has had some problems already that my S10 (with 50,000 more miles and 6 more years on it) hasn't had yet and that scares me.If you actually take the time to fix the damn thing proper the first time you won't have to do it again... being a (at least) self proclaimed professional mechanic you should know this. Rangers are very good, reliable vehicles when taken care of. So now that you've fixed it, enjoy it. It's not my call by a long shot, but you may be able to repent your heresy here if you so choose to make such an effort.

But honestly, I started this thread in a fit of annoyance at those bumper bolts and have just been running with it since to see if I can get any real intelligent defense instead of just 'go away we love ford'. I'll probably actually end up finishing fixing the thing up and driving it for the summer anyway. If it doesn't have stuff going wrong all the time like the Windstar did I might end up keeping it longer. But I'm probably done with the Ranger Station now anyway. I've kind of burned my welcome here a little.![]()
I've got a lemon as well i mean it sucks im not gonna lie but i still love my truck, its an awesome rig but it wont stop giving me shit, but i still have no negative feelings for it it really was my fault i got such a bad vehichle but i still love it.If it only takes bumper bolts to get you to want to ditch the thing there is no turning you. Your mind is already made up and you are going to play us for your amusement. That was your intent when you made that statement in your first post.
I do find it amusing you like to work on forklifts and skid loaders of all things better than a Ranger, that is very... comical.
That said you got a lemon, I know from buying a few myself that it does really sour your opinion of whatever it was you bought. I just bought a new Marlin 336C rifle, it was basically a complete POS. Headspace was off, wouldn't feed, wouldn't eject... sent it in two times and they kept making it worse before I finally got my money back. I spent so much time looking at the darn thing wishing it would work I really never care to see another... which is sad because there are decades of good ones out there from before Remington screwed them up.
