Welding rockslides to frame near gas tank

So I bought a bender and made a pair of sliders for my truck now I'm at a road block. I want to weld them to the frame and on the driver side but I'm worried about the rubber fuel lines that run in the top of the frame. Should I be? Or Should I shield them or pull them out? Thanks

Definitely pull the away from the hot spots. I got in a hurry and forgot.... Damn near burned the truck down. Keep a fire extinguisher close by!

Just weld flanges to the slider and bolt them too the frame. I didn't like the idea of welding to the frame all over the place, so I mabe flanges to bolt them on. Total of 15 grade 8 7/16 bolts per side. They are super solid and have been slammed, rubbed, and pulled on more times than I care to think about.

I've always bolted my sliders on also. Never have had any problems.

IMO, bolting them on is better in the long run in case you ever want to make changes to your setup at a later date, you don't have to grind/cut everything off (plus you're not potentially affecting the frame's metallurgy by welding on it).

But yeah... If you decide to weld it, for sure get all your fuel lines (as well as any electrical wires) out of the way before you stick any heat to it.

^^^ I would bolt them on too. If you have to replace them its going to be a S.O.B. to cut and/or grind the old ones off. Not to mention you'll have to move all the fuel and electrical lines out of the way again.

I think i,m going to stick with welding. It might be a little more work taking some precaution but i think i,ll be happier with it. My bumpers on the other had i,ll be bolting them up.

Sure can got about a 3/4" gap. The lighting in my garage is pretty shitty so it's hard to see.
