IS there any special precautions needed to weld brakets onto the axle tubes on a 7.5 rear? Is it a good idea to change out the gear oil soon after, i think it might heat up the oil a lot but i dont know. THanks

Are you talking about welding on shock mounts or something similar? No special precautions are necessary unless you are doing alot of welding to the tubes, just prep it like you would normally before welding.

I would drain the axle first.

As for welding, just go like an inch or so at a time, letting it cool in between, so the tubes don't warp from the heat.

Yea, it actually is shock mounts im welding in. Hope to get them done this week. Thanks

Go easy on the welding. Like said before the tubes are pretty thin metal and you can warp them pretty easily. Also don't clamp on one side of a bearing then weld on the other side of it to avoid passing large amounts or current across a bearing.
