I had to replace the lower thermostat housing on my 2008 ranger this week (cracked). I needed to drain the coolant, but all that there is at the bottom of the radiator is this little plastic 'plier turn' piece that only turns 1/4 turn. I've seen photos of other styles (white nylon) and this is NOT that kind of threaded fitting.

In the end I just pulled the lower rad hose, but I'd really like to know how this drain is supposed to work.

(I'd take a photo but I just re-installed the skid plate in the rain and so am rather unwilling to revisit the bottom of the radiator right now)

Thanks.

It's just a plug, there are no threads. Simply twist and pull it out. It's rather tight and takes a bit of force to get out.

Thanks! The problem with plastic bits is that you really don't want to force things because that's a great way to buy one's self a new radiator! :-D

So just grab it and turn and pull. Good to know for future.
