2.3L ('83-'97) Water pump problems

I have a 2.3 liter 90 ford ranger that is having issues with the water pump. I changed it when I got the truck last summer along with the thermostat. It has done well until lately. I keep losing fluid through the weep hole. Could the water pump go bad in such a short period of time? Or is there a bigger issue that I am not aware of? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Oh I also changed the heater core as well.

Once in while you will run across bad parts from the store. Some stores keep track of what you bought, it may have a warranty on it. That doesn't help you with all the work involved in changing it out and the cost of gaskets, but it will save you a little money on the pump.

yes, it is possible to get bad parts, much more common than it used to be unfortunately. The only real cause of that other than bad parts would be fairly rare like radiator restriction and cavitation in the pump leaving a dry seal or something...

Thanks for the input. I am aware of bad parts. I worked at autozone for a while. Lol. I was just wondering if there was a bigger issue. But I guarantee I won't be doing this more than once more. I will find a water pump that lasts more than 6 months. Lol.
