what is the true difference between the warn and mile marker locking hubs. most have a personal preference toward warn but both seem the same. im not going to be doing any serious four wheeling and the largest tire i plan on running is the stock 265-75-15. will the mile marker really fail sooner? i know you get what you pay for but im not pushing these to the limits.

If you're not "taking it to the limits," either one of them will be perfectly fine.

Hubs grenading on the trail is one of those "to the limits" things.

If you WILL be taking it to the limit, for the 1994, the answer is Warn Jeep rear 8.8 full-floating-axle-conversion hubs. For the 1988, don't sweat the hubs. They will be protected by the axleshafts.

The advice by MAKG is spot on, but I have something to say about mile marker hubs.

Mile marker hubs suck. Had one as a trail spare. As I blew up Warns a few times. After one Warn bit the dust I swapped the mile marker on after I winched out of the pit I busted the Warn in. Then not much later after 8 mins or so of light wheelin during a hill climb, BOOOOM. Granted im on 35’s locked but I thought a mile marker could last more then 8 mins. And this hub was brand new out of the box, so it wasn’t previously stressed. Also after looking at the failed Warn and mile marker I noted the mile markers wall thickness was smaller visibly compared to the Warn.

Superwinch (#400565)

I don't think they were much better than the Milemarkers though IIRC.

I have a set of Superwinch and I cant complain. KNOCK on wood.

I had a cousin go throght 3 sets of mile crapper hubs in less than 4 days. They put the
J-U-N-K in JUNK.
