If it's cold outside and I have time I'll let em run for a few minutes while I'm inside before I leave but I usually just get in and drive.

You warm your truck up for almost 10 minutes before you drive it every time?

Totally unnecessary.

I get in, buckle up, hit the key, fire up the Zune.. and drive. I haven't warmed up a vehicle since I had my old Torino that ran like crap.

In the winter I start it a few minutes early just so the windows all defrost and the heater warms up so I don't freeze my ass off. In the spring/summer/fall I just jump in start it up, give it a couple seconds and drive.

Of course the RPMs drop when you put it in gear. A transmission will shift firmer when the fluid is cold.

Warming it up when its not cold out is still totally unnecessary and a waste of gas.

I let mine run until the idle stabilizes at it's normal 775rpm.
That takes 90seconds or so except on the very coldest days.

I usually have useful cabin heat within 2 miles even on the coldest days

Not much. Are you drunk?

I usually wait about 30 seconds, or so. Make sure the oil is flowing, and go. Never had any problems.
