OK, the Ford speakers are starting to wear out and I need something new. I prefer Pioneer but am open to other brand recommendations. I like big bass. I'm not into rap but I like to feel my music. I am very opposed to a speaker box however, I have one in my Mustang......don't really need a box in my way in my truck too.

I listen to Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Iron Maiden, Megadeth...... you get the picture.

Please give me input if you have any. I appreciate it.

pioneer 6x8 3 ways from walmart great base great highs love them. about 60 bucks. iv had em for about a year no problems at all.

I used a set of the Pioneers in my old truck and will probably pick another set for the new truck sometime. They sounded great for everything I listened, and the bass wasn't too bad. Nothing like a sub, but an improvement for sure.

I have 4 of the pioneer 6x8 4 way speakers and i love their sound. Unfortunately they don't like the low stuff so you'll need a sub.

I listen to lots of metal music as well and the double bass is strong and accurate. You can feel each double bass hit.

I've settled on Pioneer. I've never bought anything Pioneer (car audio) I was disappointed with. Now I just need to figure out which model. They have a few different speakers that go down to 30hz, which is what I am aiming for. I've been trying to get this jackass on Ebay to tell me model number of his speakers for 4 days now. If anyone has model numbers of what they like, that would rock to have. I think I've blown my drivers door speaker, so I need some very soon.

Being from Utah it's probably sacrilegious for me to like anything but Pioneer, seeing as we are the Pioneer state.

pioneer is great. but check out the polk db571 speakers. those are really nice for a 5x7/6x8 speaker and will blow away pioneers. (im a diehard pioneer fan also)

I'm gonna agree, the Polk speaker is really hard to beat. I started out with the Pioneer, later switched to Polk. Great Speaker

IMO the 6x8 kenwoods are better, they hit harder and its only $10 more then the pioneer.

well for one thing I wouldnt do 2 ways, a component system allows you to position your tweeter closer to ear level. also why does everyone love these oval shapes so much? A round woofer with a simple bracket fixes mounting problems with ease. All in all you would have a crisper cleaner sound with a 6.5" component system.

Rockford Fosgate all the way! Pioneer bases their products around them and vice versa its a little more expensive but great bass great high end personally look for a 4 way system much clearer all the way through if you dont have a sub

Can you prove that, because I sincerely believe that your wrong. I'm gonna stick with my 6 x 8's.

In fact my 6 x 8's are more crisp than any set of component speakers that I've heard. So please show me proof of your statement.

I just went and listened to a bunch of different set ups today, 6X8, Component, and even the 5 1/4 - 6 inch speakers. The Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X683C speakers sound BY FAR the best of anything I heard today. They want 150 a pair for them at the local audio shop so I didn't get them (wanted to look on the web first). Now, for some damn reason nobody had Pioneer 6x8's in their display I could listen to Pioneer 6x9's. But my vote goes to the Kenwood eXcelon KFC-X683C, and I'm usually anti-Kenwood.

I actually heard these in the owner of the stores car, it's a Mazda 6. All he has is 4 of these, and it sounded like it had a small sub. Very nice set-up.

I also could not find any MB Quartz or Polk speakers. I really want to hear what it before I buy it. Damn it, I forgot to go to Best Buy, maybe they have Polk & MB Quartz?

And for the record, everything at Wally World SUCKS!!

doubt you'll find MB Quartz, if it helps they used to make JL's speakers. If you research a lot you can find out the manufacturers of equipment and buy it from them. Alpine, Pioneer, JL, ect... don't always make their own drivers they buy them and then add the marketing plastic bits to them.

Pioneer Speakers

I would suggest the Pioneer TS-D6802R. I have two sets of these in my truck and love them. They are a little on the expensive side though ($89.99 per set). They sound great and I'm just pushing them with a JVC Head Unit. I couldn't imagine what they would sound like with a separate amp. As for the bass....they do sound good, but nothing will replace a subwoofer. I have 2-10" Alpine Type S Subs in an MTX Thunderform box that supply all the bass that I could ever want.

If you were to hook up an aftermarket amp to these (say around 50-75W RMS per channel) I'm sure you would be pleased.
