Its a Henderson "air lock" tire changer model AW.

I done some google searching cant find anything much. What does the "air lock" do? It looks pretty manual to me. I threw an old mounted up 4 wheeler tire on it anf got the bead broke and the general jist of how to use it...i think...

Does anyone know how to use it exactly? I never was a tire boy. Anyone know roughly the era its from? Im going to guess Mid 60s at the latest.

Any info appeciated.

It matches your truck.

Is that a air hose and a foot pedal at the base?

Already filling the shop...

Have you plugged an air hose into it?

Good eye :ROFLMAO:

Yes it is. It moves freely and has an airhose running into an air chamber that does god knows what. Its got massive springs on it to draw it back down.

No not yet. The fitting on it was full of dirt and rust. I was low on time so i soaked everything in PB that looked like it was supposed to move. I am going to clean the threads on tht fitting in the next few days and put air to it and hope it dont explode in my face.

Stay back... but we need video if it does blow up.

My guess is, the air lock pushes the platform, the wheel sits on, up to lock the wheel in place to keep the wheel from rotating after you break the bead all around then flip the bead outside the tire and rotate the handle to get the entire bead on the outside of the tire. It basically holds the firmly wheel in place while doing any work on the tire.

That is if the pneumatic cylinder still holds air and is functional.

Im going to go out tomorrow and put air to it. Ill let ya guys know how it goes

Totally anti climatic.

Let the compressor hit 120, put air to it, and pushed the pedal...and...nothing.

I think the foot pedal is bad. Im gonna replace that and see whst happens.

Nice. I've used my HF stand (like a simplified version of that without the pneumatic setup) a bit and it's worked well.

I dont think the air part working is going to stop me from changing tires...just make it a bit slower process.

Now all you need is a road force dynamic balancer from 1912 and your good to go!
