v8 DD

ive only driven all 5 of the mustangs ive owned in the rain 3 times and never had any problems, except coming back from nationals on drag radials in the rain trying not to spin out doing 50 with 450hp at the tip of my toes :/

had a 86 f-150 4x2 with a h/c/i 306 i was driving for a while as a DD and the only time i had real problems was if i really laid into it hard during rain

I didn't think my 88' GT was all the great in the rain until winter rolled around. -45*F days, in a bolt-on 5.0 5-spd on summer street tires until last month. Now I have a new respect for throttle control.

As far as on topic, my 94' 2wd 3.0 auto has moderate traction issues in the rain, it's going to take some weight distribution and suspension geometry to feel safe after the 5.0 swap. And that's compared to my 88' GMC Sierra 2wd . . .

I have bald tires and my 3.0L can get pretty squirly sometimes. Late at night I like to go out and drift the round-abouts and empty streets. I enjoy showing up all the little racer boys with their acura's and honda's. Apparently del sol's have over 200hp stock says one of my friends, didn't seem to help him in the first 50 feet though.

BTW I very rarely speed and when someone wants to race I usually just accelerate up to about the speed limit.

EDIT: Anyways back on topic, it sounds like a stock 302 shouldn't be too squirly especially with some good tires and a mild foot. My Dad's 5.4 2wd F250 light duty wasn't too bad and it had a posi in it too. I was thinking of doing this swap to my next Ranger I get too.

I drove my V8 ranger almost daily. Rain, snow, ice, sun, anything. As long as you know what you are driving and how to drive for the conditions you are fine. It's just like anything else. Unless you are building a mild v8 and using overdrive you should be more worried about fuel cost. I stopped driving mine once it has become more project than transportation.
