i have and 88 bronco II with the mitsubishi 5 speed and im getting ready to do my swap. i called advanced adapters they said they have an adapter to use my existing manual trans with some ford 150 mods and bellhouseing. they told me it could handle up to 35's, im not looking to to any serious offroading some minor trails a lot of sand and some mud, mostly everyday driver. can i get some advice or if you have experiance that would be awesome. im still with my parents going to school so having a tranny lying around is not going to happen with them. thats why im asking about using mine. thanks

they.....are full of shit

i guess thats not really helping...:D

i suggest to run a f150 r2 and some type of 208 case. preferably a jeep unit but they are scarce as hell these days.

so i should not run my 5 speed for the time being? i was eventually going aod but cant do it right now

how far from michigan are you?

carb or efi?

the aod is good, but needs proper parts selection for the vb to be great.

i strongly suggest to do the aod now if its something planned for the future.

im a bit i live in North carolina used to be in pa, those where the good days snow and people who knew how to drive lol. i really wanted the aod but we have a home owners ass. and they are strict my parents dont want the stuff sitting around and i dont have time to have my truck down to long. if i collected everything i needed how long do you think it would take to do the swap? is the aod easy to put in? i have some mech background i tore the heads off before and rebuilt my way back up when i wanted to drop a cam in.

oh sorry im doing a 93 mustang efi engine my truck is 2.9 efi

physical swap time is totally dependant on needs and goals and proper parts selection and preparation....and the actual year of the vehicle/donor parts...and of course tool arsenal.

i can do a drag truck in 8hrs to a long day.

streetable rigs...ac/cruise control ect -- especially smog legal setups can take up to 70-80 hrs possibly more. i worked on a jeep that took me over 100. but thats doing something that hadnt been done enough to be widely recorded and working with unfamiliar to me gm components.

these days the same 6.0 swap is a two day deal.

then again it takes some guys years.

advance adapters havent made this kit for a long time im calling them tomorrow

i just called them yesterday they told me about it and that they still offered it thats why i wanted to ask opinions. L&L products didnt seem to think it was a bad idea you swap a lot from the f150 i think clutch to not to sure yet my list of needs for the swaps in the truck somewhere. has anyone tried the total performance block hugger headers? and what motor mounts did u guys like?

so they have the adapter plate for a 302 to bolt to the Mazda 5 speed.

no the mazda does not have a removable bellhouseing to my understanding but the mitsu and the other 4 speed does and they do have an adapter

Nothing currently under your truck is going to support 35" tires or a V8. The Mitsu trans is the weakest stick they ever put in the ranger/BII. The 7.5 and D28 are fine for 31's and 33's if you go easy.

You need an F150 trans and Tcase, and atleast a D35 and an 8.8" out back to hold the 35's and someof that stuff might need beefed up when you run the 5.0 depending on how you drive it.

ok than ill have to look more into the aod, i wasnt planin on 35 i would like 32x10.5 or 31x10.5. more than one person said it was a bad idea thanks guys ill look for an aod and try to get it the day im planing on starting
