thought I had this solved, but still struggling. Recently bought some nice thick plates on ebay for reasonable price of $40, that bolt to 4.0 mounts for V-8 swap (my truck is 2003 supercab). One of the plates has sort of a ledge made into it, other has a cutout (which I presumed was for steering shaft clearance?). Are there any photos of conversions that show which plate goes which side? I'm not getting my engine back towards firewall as much as I want and I'm not getting it to sit down on both motor mounts, if I get it sitting on one, studs aren't long enough on other, and engine still not as far back as I think it could go, AND I've got oil pan sitting on crossmember. So, I HAVE to go back and lower, THANK YOU, Big Puddin

Got it bolted down now. Had to disconnect driveshaft and trans crossmember and wiggle very soundly on trans tailshaft to get motor to set down good on mounts.

Depending on your application and what oil pan you are using you may need to use a few spacers/washers between the plates and the engine. I had to use them on mine, 99 2wd coil spring Ranger. I know a few others that had to use them as well to keep the oil pan off the power steering rack.

I have the photos of the engine plates mounted in my build thread but it may be easier to just e-mail them to you as my thread is pretty long with a lot of pages.

The thread is, "One more 2wd 98 coil spring 5.0 swap"

Its been decades since I remember wagging a transmission tail shaft to get an engine to set down. I had honestly forgotten it and it came back to me. But I would never have gotten it until I removed my C6 crossmember and driveshaft. It was only then I could wag the trans tailshaft with vigor.
I went as far back as I could and have plenty cylinder head clearance I believe. Would have liked to went back further but ran out of driveshaft. Not wanting to have it cut I quit. My oil pan is tighter than I'd prefer. I would have also preferred max clearance up front. It's tight...
Have to clean block and install heads, alum edelbrock intake, Holley 600 vacuum secondaries, 1 wire HEI distributor, then figure my headers. I'm glad I pulled inner fenders to work things easier, and I'm glad removed the hood to ease working and seeing.
